Re: NFS SHIFT Car Reviews
More than making Nords the reference track, I would recommend everybody to test their cars on their favourite track(s). Make sure it's a track you know like the inside of your pocket, so the track does not surprise you, but the car does. That is the only objective way to compare laptimes and actual ...

Re: Bugs & Glitches in Need for Speed: SHIFT
Well, here is the explanation I got from asking a techie friend of mine - drivers are generally improved from version to version, but to get an edge in the competition, ATi and nVidia typically 'cheat' a bit by optimising their drivers to the most popular games of the moment. Imagine that these driv...

Re: NFS Shift user reviews
^Duh. Got my facts mixed up. GT5 was has been delayed a few years now. I don't recall if it was announced in 2006 or was supposed to be released originally in 2006. Either way, I remembered a 2006 and automatically associated it with Prologue. Sorry, my mistake =). I do get your point in regards to ...

Re: Bugs & Glitches in Need for Speed: SHIFT
For ATi users having issues with this game - some people have reported that simply renaming their shift.exe to grid.exe or whatever else .exe has yielded noticeable peformance increases. Some users have reported a substantial gain in fps. I have yet to try this out myself, but if this works... sourc...

Re: NFS Shift user reviews
As for GRID, the game is from 2008 and SHIFT is from 2009, so don't compare them. Why not? That's all you do all the time, even in your own latest post :D. Besides, we are comparing it with GT5P, which came out all of 3 years ago, if memory serves! If it helps any, yes, GRID did well with the off-t...

Re: What system settings are you running shift?
^Fastest. That's a joke, right? Both in terms of startup and any other benchmark you want to make, from application usage to gaming, Vista is a colossal beast to play around with. It is, by far, the slowest OS ms has ever produced. As for user-friendliness, I guess that's subjective.. it's nice to l...

Re: NFS Shift user reviews
Not to beat a dead horse, but since you brought it up again.. I never insulted you, mate. I found your claims about Flatout being simmy questionable - in my world Flatout 1 was little more than Mario Kart. Granted, I have never played Flatout 2 and Carnage, so I leave space for my statement to be wr...

Re: 3rd Person View VS Cockpit View
So this is a case where the camera view affects the way I drive. Of course it's not the camera's fault, it's mine. Exactly =). The camera affects your perception of the world and of different things - and I wholeheartedly agree that driving on the right side of the car feels weird, when you are use...

Re: NFS Shift user reviews
^I disagree =). Having played - and playing - GT5P almost daily, I can only draw a comparison to that game. GT5 has never been awash with colour, which Shift, in contrast, is. This gives GT5 a more sterile, yet more realistic and mature look. Mind you, the difference to Shift isn't that big in that ...

Re: 3rd Person View VS Cockpit View
A racing game isn't a real racing game if it doesn't offer a cockpit view. It's the only way to drive. Games that offer only 3rd person views are usually simple arcade games. The cockpit view in Shift is glorious, better even than GT5P's. The level of detail is astonishing - not going to upgrade any...

Re: What system settings are you running shift?
I am amazed by the size of the screens most people appear to be running. 1024x768 and 1280x1024.. I thought those resolutions were long gone. I myself have been running 1680x1050 for half a decade now and have only recently (1 year ago) switched up to 1920x1080p on my 40" lcd. If it wasn't beca...

Re: What is the best starting car?
As for what makes a more fun car to drive - Personally I prefer the planted feeling of the 4WD cars on some tricky tracks and the oversteery'ness of the RWD cars on others. The BMW 135i is an interesting car. I think it handles quite well and is relatively easy to control, when it gets tailhappy. I ...

Re: Bugs & Glitches in Need for Speed: SHIFT
I agree. The core gameplay is solid, but the fact remains that this game is as bugged as few others. There are plenty of bugs in the ps3 and xbox versions as well. You have testimony of that in this very thread.

Re: Bugs & Glitches in Need for Speed: SHIFT
No, the sad thing is that when the time comes to hold SMS responsible, they will have a WALL of 9.0/10 reviews to hide behind. They can put up a facade of 'hard evidence' and claim evrything else is bs, if they so please. Their 'resume', so to speak, will state all the good reviews, rather than the ...

I don't understand why they don't focus their market around Europe, though - last I checked we outnumber them almost 3 to 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Europe ~ 830 mil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_the_United_States ~305 mil h...

Re: What is the best starting car?
^It is from the game. When Juiced1 hit the shelves, it was way better than what NFS had to offer, driving-wise (no matter that they completely screwed that over with Juiced2). Several members of this forum were enthusiastic about it back then and juicedunlimited.net was opened - a sister site to nfs...

Re: What is the best starting car?
^Undoubtedly true. My point was that my statement doesn't measure up in 'rudeness' to the stuff I see flying around everywhere on the internet. Better grow a thicker skin.
EDIT - I don't even need to go far for a prime example: http://forum.nfsunlimited.net/viewtopic ... 45#p367021
