Vehicle Types

Post by Koenigsegg_Rox »

Which of the vehicle types is your favourite?

If this gets locked I understand and won't be so careless next time :)

As for mine, it would have to be bikes. Top end sportsbikes, which cost much less than a car, can run with the 200MPH+ cars in the world. So far the fastest is the Marine Turbine Technologies Y2K:

It may look crap, but at 250+ mph, with a Rolls-Royce Allison V8 from a helicopter, it goes and sounds the biz.

If it had to be cars, then I'd go with Exotics.

Don't forget peoples, you can choose a max of two if you like bikes or cars. I didn't really think anybody would really pick SUVs but I chucked it in there for something different.

Yeah it sounds the biz, but it goes like crap, only thing it can do is go fast in a streight line, cause it's is pretty much a useless bike for anything else.
Bikes are build for handling, not for topspeed (involved risks etc)

The majority of high-performance motorbikes nowadays go in excess of 300kph though, that's a well-known fact. I know of a few examples, my mum's CBR1000RR for one, Ducati's Desmosedici RR for another. They're top class superbikes, and unlike the MTT they can handle. And all at the price of a Suzuki Swift... Not the case of the Ducati though, that'll cost you a fair bit more. But the most you'd pay for a decent and fast sportsbike is only AU$35,000 which is around about the same price as an MY04 WRX.

Sure alot of bikes can go pretty damn fast, but the whole topspeed battle was enden after the Suzuki Hayabusa broke the record short after it was broken time after time. and most bikebuilders quit the highspeed battle because the risks where to great. sure they can still go bloody fast but they are not build be break topspeed records anymore. the only exeption is the MTT, but that's basicly the most useless bike ever made.

Not in reality, they don't. They may have the power and streamlining to do so, but almost no-one can ride anything at that speed, let alone something with 2 wheels, an inherrent instability and a fuel tank just below their groin...

A mate of mine got something like 310 on his GSXR, and he was fine.

A mate of mine frequently travels over 1100mph, your point is? I don't believe you unless you can show me.

As a side point, the top speed of a GSX1300-R (Hayabusa) is 194mph- that equallys a chain-limited top speed of 312kph. It's still one of the few high performance bikes that can exceed 300kph- it's complete codswallop that there are more than a handful that can exceed that speed.

Any lower GSX won't get even close to that speed.

Besides, a top speed of 312kph doesn't mean anyone is stupid enough to ride at that kind of speed on the road. I simply don't believe you when you say that you know someone foolish enough to drive or ride anything at almost 200mph on a public road.

Mind you, organ donors do some really, really stupid things.

Actually sadly the new Hayabusas are limited to 299kph. The reason why is completely stupid though if a 1000cc bike can beat the top 1300cc bike, which is of the same model range...

The reason is absolutely not stupid, it's called keeping it on the safeside (relatively)
And with that the amount of other bikes that hit 300 is minimal.
And why is it stupid that a bike is limited at 300. Alot of german sportscars are limited at 250, nobody is really complaining about that.

Yes, but if it was for safety, then why isn't the GSXR1000 limited as well?

I just dont see the fun in motorbikes. You sit atop a petrol tank, dressed like a power ranger. If it rains, you get soaked. If its even remotely warm, youre covered in sweat. If youre racing a car and they want to win, victory is a just a turn of the steering wheel...

Lets face it, unless its a perfectly dry, overcast day with no other traffic on the road, theres no point in having one, certainly not a Gixxer or anything else equally stupid.

Opinion accepted. Although to be fair the people who ride bikes would probably say that driving cars is no fun.

As a side note, has anyone else actually voted yet?

Because it doesn't, contrary to your belief, exceed 300kph.

I'd choose Tuner and Muscle. Since my two favorite cars are a muscle and tuner, Skyline R34 and Mako Shark Vette.

I chose both bikes and exotics. The best of both, to my opinion, are built in Italy:

- Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati etc.
- Ducati, MV Agusta, Moto Guzzi...

There's one thing that's a fact: the Italian are certainly the best designers in the world...

I'd disagree. The Germans design the best WORKING cars. Italian cars are fantastic until they break, which is far too often.
