Best sleeper car when stock?
Re: Best sleeper car when stock?
Top Gear Australia test:
It was one sec slower around their test track than a full blown E92 M3. Also half the price.

A second is a long time around a track that can be lapped in the 1:20's.

Re: Best sleeper car when stock?
I may have already said this but I'd much rather have an E46 M3 (or even an E36) than an E90 328 or 330. E36 M3 is great as a sleeper. (I have recently come to like the E36 M3, can you tell? If I could I'd take an E46 M3 but I'd rather take an E36 M3 than an E46 328... but this trend doesn't continue, I'd rather have an E36 328 coupe than an E30 M3.)
Re: Best sleeper car when stock?
An E36 isn't really a sleeper... people know they're fast. Unless you tuned one hard, took on a fazza and won... but sleeper is more like a civic with an engine swap taking on WRX or something.RedCarDriver wrote:I may have already said this but I'd much rather have an E46 M3 (or even an E36) than an E90 328 or 330. Re: Best sleeper car when stock?
Not really true. There are dozens of M3 replicas and //M-tech kitted 316i's and the like. A debadged M3 GT or M3 Evo is still pretty sleeper, it's not as if it's got the wider arches and track or different bumper designs of the E46.

lol Idk about best sleeper car when stock,
but my friend knows this guy who has an old chevy chevette that looks like a piece of crap but has cut-offs and can apperently do a wheelie
obviously its heavily modified, street legality very questionable/unlikely lol
apperently this guy has made tons of money off of hot head ricers tho, which makes me laugh

Hmmm, how about a Audi S5/S4/RS6? IMO Audi are the masters of making fast Q-cars, R8 excepted.
oh snap

Mentioned ages ago. The RS2 avant and RS6+ avant are the two biggest sleepers of the last two decades, IMHO. 315bhp and 480bhp respectively.Striker94 wrote:Hmmm, how about a Audi S5/S4/RS6? IMO Audi are the masters of making fast Q-cars, R8 excepted.

That's gash, and far from a sleeper.
Lambo doors are for people with extremely small penises. Even on Lambos.

Not to mention an over 10-month bump. That sort of thing is what the Test Board is for, amirite?

Certainly doesn't look like a sleeper - and if I'm not mistaken, that's half of the definition of 'sleeper'.

Re: Best sleeper car when stock?
It's not a sleeper, that powerful _OR_ that fast. About as much power as an M3 in something much heavier does not a sleeper make. If it was 'charged, then perhaps, but as is, it's not a sleeper.xHaZxMaTx wrote:Certainly doesn't look like a sleeper - and if I'm not mistaken, that's half of the definition of 'sleeper'.
That's a sleeper. DA Motorsport's 1100bhp E36 M3 saloon.

The rs6 avant's rims set me off. 03 S4 FTW! It looks drab from all angles, but it pwns on the track. My dad had one.

Re: Best sleeper car when stock?
The B6 would be a better sleeper if they'd actually made is reasonably powerful- 339BHP in a car weighing the best part of 2 tonnes doesn't make it too much of a sleeper- My S2 coupé ended it's life with 400KG less weight and 80BHP more, and looked just as sleeper- plus much less prone to understeer at high speed thanks to how it was set up. It's a shame really, as the B5 S4 is truly incredible, full of interesting tech and capable of 600+bhp on standard internals with the right fettling...the aftermarket for the B6 and to a lesser extent B7 which was based on the earlier model is feeble in comparison, though you can get supercharger kits for both the RS4 and the S4.lp670sv wrote:The rs6 avant's rims set me off. 03 S4 FTW! Re: Best sleeper car when stock?
I can say that these are good choices by you and i agree with you.Evil Kid Weaselmush wrote:Just curious, what do you guys think is the best sleeper car when stock?
Ford Taurus SHO? (especially the 3rd gen. SHO!)
Buick Grand National?
Cadillac CTS-V or STS-V?
BMW M5?
Audi S4?
Oldsmobile Aurora?
Some Mercedes-Benz?
Volvo S60R?
Volkswagen Passat W8?
Volkswagen Phaeton?
Something else?
My vote goes for Cadillac CTS-V
Others are not on my mind without it.
