New stuff about Prostreet (I think)

Post by Guil »

Hi!

The article is in french and the questions were asked to producer John Doyle.

http://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/2007/0002 ... -doyle.htm

Here's what you need to know in general about the article.

1- It seem than the honda civic and the dodge viper will be in prostreet.

What you can read in bold text mean : "You will be able to see a Honda Civic take a chance versus a Dodge Viper".

2- No cockpit view. Doyle say they needed to choose between cockpit view or high damage detail never seen before. He said damage is something everyone can enjoy and this is not the case of cockpit view 'cause a lot of people don't like the view.

3- You can't burn you tires to make them blow.

4- Number of cars? A lil bit over 50.

5- PS2 vs PS3/xbox360 :
-same car details
-no smoke management (For PS2)
-less accurate damages (For PS2)

Voilà!
Have a nice day!

But then Incar view is pretty useless anyway...
It's fun to watch a car from the inside like in TDU but it gets annoying pretty soon, and it blocks half your screen.

What about driving with that helmet on, doesn't it obstruct the view, Stig? :P

I lost faith in EA Years ago. No incar view because of High damage level. The damage doesnt even look all that impressive from what I see so far. Cmon EA DO BETTER THAN THAT. Whats the excuse for not having a replay option? Im going back to NFS2 SE.

extra development time. every second counts. recycling the replay mode from NFS2 SE would be a waste of disc space.

id say it is a resonable excuse. i can't stand driving in 1st person. you might like it, but there are people who don't. and yes, they are right about damage too.

and also there is a replay cam!!!

I hope so.Replay in NFS games have been on the endangered species list for quiet some time now. I believe a racing game should have a replay option, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't.

It's not about whether you like it or not...it's about giving people the option. In that case, why not just strip it down to one third-person view and that's it.

Yeah I like to try different cameras, not just the same all the time. When I was a child I liked better the 3rd person view, but now i love the interior camera. I think it happens since I drive a real car.

Anyhow, from what I saw in a video there are tons of possibilities for "screenshooting" 8) (its like an improved Photo-mode, which sucked big time at Carbon) Check it (from 2:20)
Still rolling my eyes

I agree with SP4RCO's camera comment. I liked the outer views as well, then after I got a little older and drove a few cars (not on the road,) I started to use the interior camera.

I rarely use the interior cam as it really blocks your view. I prefer using the bumpercam.

We need that replay function though..

Thats the worst excuse ever!!..and the damage isnt that great either. From one of the videos i've seen, the car rolls many times, and hits the ground at every
roll...but nothing happens except after the last roll the glass breaks and the car gets a few scratches..
But then again an interior view would be pointless for a simulation type arcade racer game. :-k

All NFS game from the first one to NFS Porsche had a cockpit view. With the birth of HP2 came the lazy attitude, (no cockpit view, no replay, etc.)

ya, but if you don't like it and theres no damage the game is screwed up. damage or cockpit, weigh the highs and lows.

cockpit veiw- only good for about 50% of racing game fans
damage- good for about 90% of racing fans.

people who like damage don't always like cockpit view
people who like cockpit view normally like damage.

and the interior of cars in racing games never turn out that well anyways.

Kinda offtopic

Juiced 2 has both Damage aswell as a pan able interior view...just like TDU.

I guess EA was more concerned about development of the smoke than anything else, which im sure more than
80-90% of peeps around the world will never experience, due to lack of PC power. :|

Why havn't any of you morons mustered up the brain power to read this. I know I'm being a little harsh here but to make an incar view that matches the graphics of outside wouldn't work.
Why? two words: Hood Scoops and there's the matter of body crumpling during a crash. the interior would be seriously warped.
If any of you after reading this post say EA is stupid for not having interior view, I'll probably end killing a squirrel, just to spite you.

@TheMasochisr Um dude, the post above yours. Read it :)IMHO EA can do a cockpit view and damage. I think the reason why we wont get a cockpit view is simply 1. EA is slacking of again and/or that (1Gpy) ONE GAME PER YEAR thing. Do we really need a NFS a year?
