Something I've discovered is in Career mode Heat Level 5 is a piece of cake, but in the Challenge Series it's pure Hell. I'm stuck on 60(?), the one where you must have a pursuit of 15 minutes and I could easily do it but the cops are much more aggressive. The only reason I keep losing is because they slam me into the wall and I land on top of them.

i am not sure on how to freeze the memory. i dont know if it would make any difference but when i hex edited the code for heat lvl 10 into my savegame it would go to heat 10 but then when i got cited by cross it would go back to lvl 5. then i would open the hex editor again and see that the code for heat lvl ten is still there even though it went back to five. if somebody could tell me how to freeze the memory i will give it a try i do think that we are getting very close to having lvl 10 and possibly 6 in career.

nono, you don't edit the EXE file.
when the game is loaded into memory, the savegame is as well. what you need to do is freeze the part of the RAM memory that holds the value for heat level.
it's like this: when the computer's working on something, it moves the entire project into it's RAM. this includes the exe, and any other files that the exe is using. by editing this memory, we don't mess with the original exe, thus avoiding any permanent damage.

ok got it will let you know here in a little bit how it works. one question to find the heat lvl can i just copy the .exe and put it on desktop and then start the game and get a heat lvl on a car that didn't have one before i copied the .exe . then just compare the two files ? shouldn't that tell me where the heat lvl code is

it's gonna be a bit tricky since the hex codes might be in more places than one. what you could do is edit the savegame in a normal hex editor to have a heat level of, say 99ABCD65 or something similar.
then load up the savegame in NFS:MW and load up artmoney. open speed.exe in artmoney and search for the string you changed heat level to. hopefully, there won't be multiple occurences. what you do now, is change this string to the what gives heat level 10, and then freeze it.
you're gonna have to look for tutorials on how to do those steps. i havent used artmoney in ages, and dont have it installed right now. sorry!
