Something I've discovered is in Career mode Heat Level 5 is a piece of cake, but in the Challenge Series it's pure Hell.

I'm stuck on 60(?), the one where you must have a pursuit of 15 minutes and I could easily do it but the cops are much more aggressive. The only reason I keep losing is because they slam me into the wall and I land on top of them.

Anyone else have the same issue?

i cant find out how to get heat lvl 6.

peeter90 is right i dont know how to freeze it for. you get spotted by cross but then the heat just reverts back to heat 5. and if you look in the savegame the hex code for heat 10 hasn't changed

Finding it is one thing, but freezing it is another.The game keeps changing it back to 5, while memory editor automatically changes it back to 6 or smth. So it kind of blinks or smth.

thanks, i should of thought of that before. any way here are some hex codes for different heat levels: lvl 6- 0000C040 , lvl 7- 0000E040 , lvl 8- 00000041 ,
lvl 11- 00003041

You dont edit the game while running it using memory scanner/debugger? Only way to freeze heat level.

Yeah, but it is the only way. Otherwise the game will limit the heat level to 5.

i am not sure on how to freeze the memory. i dont know if it would make any difference but when i hex edited the code for heat lvl 10 into my savegame it would go to heat 10 but then when i got cited by cross it would go back to lvl 5. then i would open the hex editor again and see that the code for heat lvl ten is still there even though it went back to five.

if somebody could tell me how to freeze the memory i will give it a try

i do think that we are getting very close to having lvl 10 and possibly 6 in career.

basically, you'd need a program like Artmoney that can edit the memory. then, you'd need to figure out where the code for the heat level resides in speed.exe and freeze it.

sounds complicated, and it is, until you try it and get the hang of it.

ok i will try later tonight. does anybody know by chance where the code for heat lvl is in the .exe file. o and another thing if i do find it do i just put in the code that peeter90 gave us for heat 10

nono, you don't edit the EXE file.

when the game is loaded into memory, the savegame is as well. what you need to do is freeze the part of the RAM memory that holds the value for heat level.

it's like this: when the computer's working on something, it moves the entire project into it's RAM. this includes the exe, and any other files that the exe is using. by editing this memory, we don't mess with the original exe, thus avoiding any permanent damage.

ok got it will let you know here in a little bit how it works. one question to find the heat lvl can i just copy the .exe and put it on desktop and then start the game and get a heat lvl on a car that didn't have one before i copied the .exe . then just compare the two files ? shouldn't that tell me where the heat lvl code is

the heat level code isn't in the exe, it's in the savegame. the only way to succesfully freeze it is freeze it in the savegame while it's loaded in Most Wanted, thus loaded in memory.

it's gonna be a bit tricky since the hex codes might be in more places than one. what you could do is edit the savegame in a normal hex editor to have a heat level of, say 99ABCD65 or something similar.
then load up the savegame in NFS:MW and load up artmoney. open speed.exe in artmoney and search for the string you changed heat level to. hopefully, there won't be multiple occurences. what you do now, is change this string to the what gives heat level 10, and then freeze it.

you're gonna have to look for tutorials on how to do those steps. i havent used artmoney in ages, and dont have it installed right now. sorry!

i hexed my saved game heat lvl on one of my cars to 99ABCD65 and i did a search the type i did was integer standard and nothing came up do you know what knid of search method i use float(standard) , all (standard) , Macromedia flash, integer, float, text, string
