A question about the graphics!

I wonder how you get the game to look like that?

I'm pretty sure that's one of the production pictures. Production pictures always look better than the actual game turns out to be.

And the XBox 360 version of Most Wanted was developed in conjunction with the PC version. There was no "downgrading" involved. However, you must realize that unlike the XBox 360 version, the PC version graphics depend on the configuration of your computer and the hardware power it can muster.

BS

you cant make the game look like that, as it is not ingame, it part of a movie

it can look like this at best:

click for pic

unless you have a screen that supports higher res

PC ver doesnt have real HDR , motion blur is crappy , no depth of field effect , vinyl are at lower res, shadows is jaggy and low res ,even at highest setting / 1600x1200 , while the Xbox 360 version have all of those stuff ,so what do u call the PC version ,isnt it a downgrade from X360 ?

Yeah but it's a movie capture from the game ,or at least ,a movie with ingame engine.

I play at a lower resolution (1024x768) and I can tell you, the game looks much better on my computer, especially the roads.

Here are some examples (screens taken from my computer which were used for various purposes on nfsunlimited):

Exactly what I was going to say, that picture Strafer is a pre-rendered movie that is set to play in the game. All cut scenes like that are all just movies that play after you've triggered it by finishing a race or something and there is no way to get the game to look that well.

That pic actually doesn't look that good anyway, just a higher reolution vinyl. Notice the nonexistent anti-aliasing. This was a screenshot from my computer, I think it looks a lot better than the pic of the mustang.

What...My road looks the same and play it at 800 x 600...Even with my 128mb Nvidia Geforce it looked good...Oh and the problem with resolution is that it makes the pixels too big...Try setting ur res to 640 x 480, see how it hurts your eyes... The smaller the res, the more quality the image/game, I also have proof from the S03 EP02 House M.D. the part where house asks him to steal that widescreen and then he went onto a cinema screen and saw what was wrong with that kids heart (res even helps diagnostically )...He could see smaller pixels which changes the quality, so there... U happy

im pretty sure he did, unless smaller pixels hurts your eyes . with higher esolution comes more pixels per inch and that is why things look more fine with higher resolutions, same goes for making vinyls

Yeah, but most games max out at a certain resolution. This is the optimal resolution. Above this, the graphics are rendered in the optimal resolution and stretched to the higher resolution. I have no idea what the optimal resolution for Most Wanted is.

IMHO i think the optimal resolution for MW is 1024 x 768 but that might depend on the system it is running on

OMG that is the funniest thing I've ever read. Image

You are aware that all games are made on PC right?
You are aware that all game consoles run on a constant maxium of 640x480 right?

PC's can exceed the primative 640x480 screen size that is the maximum for TV screens and game consoles. They have upgradeable parts and the graphics can be pushed to the maximum unlike game consoles.

I've heard plenty people talk crap about stuff they know absolutely nothing about.

Speaking of, game consoles are not restricted to 640x480 resolution. HD TV's use resoultions other than 640x480. The Xbox 360 is designed to use these resolutions.

Read up sonny boy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-defin ... esolutions

Yeah that's just with HD TV's. Not everybody has HD TV's and most likely aren't willing to go out and spend $1000+ just to get one for use with Xbox 360.

Here is a nice quote too.

WHUXGA 7680×4800 16:10 36,864,000

And where do ALL game consoles stand in terms of screen resolutions? Well, just ONE. That's right:
640×480 4:3 307,200 (LOW QUALITY)
Why? TV screens don't go above the 4:3 ratio. They stay right there. The only compatible screen size for a TV/console linkup is 640X480.

Of course there is HD TV which is a little differnt. PAL sets with a fixed pixel grid use 768 × 576 (4:3) and 1024 × 576 (16:9) or 720 × 540 and 960 × 540; NTSC ones use 640 × 480 and 852 × 480 or, seldomly, 720 × 540.

-Audio- PC has theater like surround (if you buy it), whereas consoles put sound directly through the TV front speaker. PC uses a sound card, giving the best audio experience.

-Game Variety and Cost- PC has consoles over a barrel here. PC games cost less than most console games and there is a larger variety.

Games are designed on PC's. Therefore, all games link back to PC's... even console games!

PC's are better. End of story.

Dont you read what i've posted ? u must be an IDIOT for saying that ,coz the X360 and PS3 already exceed 640x480 , PC always better than console (did i said something about console is better than PC ???? ) ,but the problem is EA MAKE NFSMW a downgrade version from the X360 ver so no matter how powerful your PC is ,the game cant look as good as the X360 ver. I'm talking about NFSMW only ,dont try to turn this thread into a console war. Read what i've listed above and check out the graphics of NFSMW'S X360 version and compare it to PC version (running on highest setting of coz) and you will see .

did u see GRAW on PC at highest setting ? that cant be as good as it is in X360,u cant deny it right ? that's because the game dev downgrade it from the X360 ver, NOT because PC is weaker than console

Thisis a picture supposedly taken directly from the XBox 360. All the screenshots I found from the 360 are 1024x576, which I'm guessing is the resolution at which it runs. (Personally, I think they messed with the lighting and contrast.)

This is a pic taken from my PC at 1280x1024, which I resized to 1024x576.

Really the only differences are the lighting and textures.

-EDIT-
Turns out I had shadow detail on the lowest setting, so that's why the lighting is so drastically different. However, the shadows are, as mentioned before, rather pixelated. Then again, I don't have a high-end graphics card, so higher quality textures might not be enabled by default.

look at these pic (all taken from gamespot review , not promo pics from EA)
http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/20 ... een008.jpg
Notice the motion blur quality ,it looks better than on PC, not only that , motion blur on PC blurs everything on the screen which looks crappy ,while the X360 version only blurs the environments

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/20 ... een009.jpg
Fire scratch looks like they are from "burnout revenge" while the PC version use the old NFSU2 style

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/20 ... een004.jpg
Notice the depth of field blur effect in cutscene cameras ,PC doesnt have this

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/20 ... een002.jpg
And most important of all ,PC doesnt have real HDR ,this pic only show little of it ,notice the red light (or blue when the sun is high) over the edge of objects ,that's one effect of HDR on the X360, and because PC doesnt have real HDR ,they just fake HDR's tone mapping and HDR's bloom with somekind of brightness adjustment and overbright effect ,that's why our car was shining in the tunnels like a sun ,and the light at the end of the tunnels looks so fake.

If u guys wanna see things in motion , check out the gametrailers.com NFSMW video review (HD) ,all most gameplay footage in that video review was taken from real X360 graphics, not promo stuff from EA ,although graphics cant look as good as promo video/pic ,but at least much better than PC version, and see if for yourself how much different the lighting react, compare to NFSMW's PC version. That's why i said PC version of this game is a downgrade from the X360 version or a poor port. Also i hope EA wont **** up NFSCarbon PC version again

I got the textures on my computer to match those of the XBox 360, butI get a lower frame rate (15-30 FPS). That's also running with 8x AA and 16x AF.
