Any way to have more than the max # of cars in your garage?

Post by Temperamental »

Hey, just wondering.. quick question. I was bored and was randomly tuning more or less all the stock cars when I finally reached the limit... damn, it's less than the number of stock cars in the game.

Is there a tool where I can increase the maximum number of cars I can make in my garage, or is it hard coded in.

thanks

Haven't seen a tool yet, that would allow more cars. But you can have as many profiles as you like, so basically there is no limit to car slots either. Naturally you'll need to complete the career several times to unlock everything, but this usually is the case anyway. I currently have three profiles with everything unlocked, which gives me quite enough car slots (20x3+5x3=75).

I usually design cars in customize mode, because it's the easiest place to do it, but sometimes when I'm happy with a design and want to use a different garage background I go into career and (with a little money trainer help) quickly rebuild the same car, and take the screenshots in any garage I want. The customize garage being quite dark...

hang on a sec, why dont you just make your cars in the customise mode on the main menu??
it would be way easier than having to make like 5 profiles and finish them all off

yes, the limit is 15... i was working on a way to get more cars, but i gave up after it got too frustruating.... so for now it's not possible to get more than 15 cars in quick race and 5 in career

@ Temperamental!

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!!! I HAVE (KIND OF) A WAY OF DOING IT!!!
OK...

what you do is copy your existing savegame...

C:\Documents and Settings\**USERNAME GOES HERE**\Local Settings\Application Data\NFS Underground 2

then, you paste it...

BTW THIS IS THE FOLDER WITH THE FILE IN IT... COPY AND PASTE WHOLE FOLDER

Rename the folder and make sure the file inside the folder has the same name.

Now, when you play the game, on the load profile screen, you will see your new name, unfortunately, it stays the same while you are playing...

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

hey that could work for ps2 also, you could copy your carreer, and then delete the cars on the copied one, but still have the cars on the origonal.

If you're into hexediting you can change the player name aswell (to match the file/folder names).

The player name is at offset (from beginning) 53797. You can mod it there (make sure the file size stays the same after editing).

Hmmm, yes that's true but that's only for PC. my solution is for all :D

alternatively, you can just rename the savegame on a console or the savegame on a PC to give a new Profile name but keep the same name ingame.

I tried it on the PS2, it worked.... just load up your PS2 and go to the memory card. Here, copy the data. And paste.

i see, i was thinking that you could do it in the game though, but i dont think you can copy profiles in the game.
EDIT
so after you copy the profiles, and you delete all the cars from one, it wont delete them on the other. right?

as far as I know, (PS2 is my only system, so I'm not sure about PC, XBOX, and other systems) you cant go over your limit... I'll have to keep playing to figure it out for sure

NeedSpeed108, read my last post on the previous page, then there is kind of a "cheat" to have extra cars.

You know... it's a good idea to experiment and see if theres any other way at all of having more than 20 cars... who knows... maybe some file editing or some thing... a tool for this would be great.

It would be great and it probably will be done in the not too distant future!

But not too distant future means once NFSU2 files have been cracked. Could take until december :(, or even longer :(
