I'd say the 240, turn it into a drifter

The Corolla has the best cornering of any car in NFSU2. This makes it the best car for Circuit, Sprint, Street X, and URL. For career mode, it's also good enough for drag and drift events.

I did career using just the Corolla, and the Navigator for the SUV events.

Videos of the Corolla in action:

Observatory
Street X
Outer Ring, no nos

I always choose the 2003 Peugeot 206 GTI and I beat the game on hard level with it, but the best car is a 1992 Nissan 240SX SE [S13].

The best car to get when first starting the game is the Nissan 240sx when having the difficult level on medium its what I always pick when I start up a new career

I am doing another playthrough on NFSU2 at an accelerated pace. Again, I chose the Nissan 240SX, because I am stubborn. This car, when upgraded to above Level 2 parts is evolving the very useful characteristic of being able to slide around corners using normal brake and steering in the opposite direction. Until now, I thought I could always do that in Street X and later URL stages in the Airport, just because of the RWD. But no. This makes the car very competitive in Coal Harbor races, and Street X's anywhere from doable to easy.

Still, the 240SX remains controllable and can be steered easily from the keyboard. This is in contrast with other, presumably better cars, such as the Mazda RX-7. I am having difficulty winning Outruns with this car, let alone unpredictable circuits. It just spins in place.

It is my understanding that very little from the "Nissan" remains in the car, because everything from body to the engine has been gradually replaced with aftermarket parts. I've also got an upgraded Skyline, except unique upgrades, and it feels much more heavy. I'm having it for show/cruise only, painted in shiny metallic coat.
