I suppose you are talking about PS2. Yeah there are many games in Platinum series, they are ancient games which are cheaper, and the cover include the "Platinum logo".
BTW I haven't got any console, I talk about what I saw and talked with friends.

AFAIK platinum edition means a complete game for sale that needs no patches, etc. I.e. the final version, when the game isn't supported anymore.

I said Platinum is the final version because GOLD is the first release version. That's my logic, and from reading examples of games gone Platinum (just now, Newer Winter nights went platinum and include all missions, all add-ons and so on). So 1 million copies idea doesn't make sense, as it doesn't take long for a game like NFSU to be sold in 1 million.

In fact, Matrix, the game, was pre-sold by 4 million copies before it went out. The 'metal' status of the game refers to its development stage, not the number of sales, as far as I know. Probably it's different for Music CD's.

for playstation, a game become platinum when it has sold more than 1 milion copies. btw, if the game is a great seller, they make it platinum after some time, and not just when it reach the 1 milion...

Yeah, just like artists... If their albums happen to be sold to the MILLION mark, it'll be a Platinum album.

dude did you know "platinum" is refering to the x-box? The PS2 has "Greatest Hits" and the GC has "Player Choice" or sumthing like that. yea it went "platinum because it sold alot of coppies I dont really know the number specifically. But yea Platinum if refering to the X-box. I just wanted to clear that up.

that would not be logical... cause it differs what publisher has made the game not the type of console...!
