catch up mode

in the game...wat does the catch up mode du?..? liek does the AI wait 4 u wen u r last or does it gives the AI ability to catch up to u?

both... if you are way behind, AI will slow down... but if they are behind they can catch up with you also in no-time

yeah, keep it on, bcoz if u turned it off, u can lead them with 13 sec. or more, so just keep it on if u wanna have some action like exonn said.

the bad thing about when its on it that they can catch up to you really quick but if its off, you will never catch up to them

you can't turn it of in underground mode... it is on and stays on!

To me I have had the catchup system kick in and stay on, even when the AI passed me, when a such thing happens the AI will pass you and still try to match your speed.
What you then have to rely on is precise corner work at the cars limit and once you catch up to the AI, you cannot just pass him, you need to crash him out, or else it will stay on and the problem will still be there.

Another way of playing nasty is pace management, catchup mainly triggers on the leading AI car, so if you stay behind him you are fine, until you reach a specific distance to the finish line, they will speed up, so you must pass them before that point. On Atlantica reverse it is in the junkyard, if you fail to pass before the junkyard area ends, they will dust you until they have left the sewer area.

I do this and it is very funny, then you notice the AI driving so slow that I often crash into their rear bumper.

The Options-menu is outside Underground mode. I always turn it off because I think it is more realistic. But I haven't noticed any difference (I dont play so much in circuits)

I'm fairly certain that in Underground mode it is preset. You can just choose EASY MEDIUM HARD. I do all my races on hard now... It's not really that challenging anymore except for some of the longer circuit races where catch up really kicks in and you have to do perfect laps or your screwed.

whatever you chose you'll have crazy effects, sometimes opponents sign lap times impossible (as well as you can stole them 5 seconds in a moment if you're behind). think at the last race...that blonde chicks can stole you even 12-13 secs in the chinise area....that's really insane!!!!
....where is the AI?!?!? when I see this I think the game as a AS instead (Artificial Stupidity)
