here's the deal, NFS:U plays single player fine, but it wont patch, and when i click the 'play online' button the game crashes to desktop.
what have i done to fix it? i followed the directions on the EA tech support site where you delete the downloaded prog files or whatever and get rid of that file, that didnt help. So i contacted tech support and went thru all their basic things to try, like updating drivers and such and none of that helped, tech support has given up, and told me to call, but i dont want to waste my phone's minutes sitting on hold waiting for them, so i told them where to go and they offered me a return (i want the game so no).
So i wandered around, found this site (again, i lost it once) looked thru the forums, read the faq, tried the fix to patch by installing the patcher and the 2 patches from EA's ftp, but when i run the patcher i get the missing ocx error, so i did a search and installed the MS patch w/ that file and the other one it recomends, it installs but i still get the same error.
I think thats all, i've written a book here, so i'll end it now.
