Carbon Customization Unlocking Problems

I just got enough cash to buy another car, so I dumped my old ride and bought a Lotus. Now when I try to customize/upgrade my car, I find that everything but stock parts are locked. This is kind of strange because with my old car I had indeed unlocked quite a few parts. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Different Tier (Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3), Different upgrade parts!
Lotus is Tier-2 (If I'm not wrong..)
& Your old cars maybe Tier-1, so you need play again & unlock tier-2 parts.

Thank you for the help and welcome. That means that now I have to try and advance to the races where I can earn tier 2 parts without any vehicle upgrades - and that's going to be very difficult. I wish I had known this would happen b4 I purhased the car - just another flaw in my opinion.

Yap, read the tier on each car before buy them..
