where to enter cheats?

Hi every one.
everywhere is written:
Type these codes when on "PRESS ANY KEY" or "CLICK TO CONTINUE" screen.
but when I enter cheats here,nothing happens.
instead,they work in the main menu of the game.but not all of them.what is the problem?is my game corrupted?
