What do you mean "similarly grouped"? I'm not positive, but I think Hex Workshop groups two bytes (4 numbers) together, rather than one byte, as in the pictures in the guide.

Did you read the instructions? The carslots don't start at the beginning of the file. Since the savegame is static, their address is known and documented in the wiki. Just navigate to that address and you'll start seeing the patterns.

I did read the instructions but in the wiki it says "The car slots start at 00010BD0h" - i tried to search for 00010BD0h but HW didnt find it.
Wait... and what are those numbers on the left? Can these be carcodes?
sorry for being so lame I'm just keen on doing this ;)

"Starts at 0010BD0h" means that's the hexadecimal address. Just like a normal text file has line numbers and column numbers, in a manner of speaking so does any file opened in a hex editor. In the edit menu, there should be an option that says Go To. Click on it and make sure it says hex instead of decimal. Then just type in the code (without the h, of course) and hit enter. You'll be transported to the beginning of the block containing all the carslots.

Thanks a lot!
Still I can't see the patterns. At 0010BD0 the line is:
0000 0000 A43F 0200 0000 0000 0000 0000 7856 3412 9299 86C4 D43D 0667

0200 presumably is the car membership - 02 Career
The zeros there, the first group should have a little thing saying if it's a tuner or something (but I'll try and investigate that one).
But there's no carcode - where are they?

I'd love to change the texture vinyls - but I need to get my head around this first.
Start with simple stuff - like how to find and make a LeMans Quattro available in Career mode.

I think you went to the wrong location. The location is actually 00010BD0. You're missing a 0. Also make sure the GoTo box is set the hex mode instead of decimal.

You should visit this thead first. I declare myself a "Hex Noob", but I still managed to put the Audi R8 successfully into the Car Lot in Career Mode ages ago. :)

Yea, but it's still possible to do the stuff you do in Hex Editor. :)

Anyone know what is code for 21st Crew member vinyl in NFS Carbon, because when I use codes from the list i get 2 black stripes with 21st logo instead orange body vinyl with 21st logo. The rest codes for bushido, tfk and stacked deck crew members vinyls are correct, only this don't work for me.

What is code for this vinyl: http://imageshack.us/f/685/neededvinyl.jpg/

The vinyl code section lists codes 4C5F - 4D5F as unknown:

Code: Select all

4C5F - 4D5F Unknown
This vinyl code is used for the Jaguar XK in the intro video when Darius first shows up. Not sure what to name this vinyl, since it doesn't look like the other Stacked Deck vinyls. Here are two photos, one showing the vinyl on a Jaguar XK in the garage, and the second photo taken from the intro sequence of Carbon. In the intro photo, you can just make out the vinyl near the bottom of the car:

Has anyone found where the Career Mode race offsets are and what the hex values are. I really want to add the boss races into career mode to race whenever I want. :D

Hi. Anyone, especially the author, still around? The images are long gone, especially the car slot one. Any chance someone backed up those images or is anyone really willing to provide a newer image version of the tutorial? I recommend imgur as a image host.

BTW I really appreciate this tutorial. Was able to use the M3 GTR Vinyl on my 240SX. :D.

[EDIT]

Found them on wayback machine, sans the car slot one which wayback did not capture.

imgur com/a/a6VB3/all (since I just registered)

Now even a simple image guide of the car slot tutorial, id greatly appreciate it.
