Change in-game Music?

Post by brodiepearce »

Hi,

I've been wondering over this every since NFS:Underground, is it possible to change the in game music, in particular for Most Wanted?

In the folder that the music file is stored ("root\SOUND\PFDATA\~) there's an executable for Microsoft Clip Organiser, that allows you to arrange your own files into clips, but I don't think it actually exports it as a file, and is a booboo to use and doesn't seem to do anything. And the file that contains the music (I think) is the mysterious .mus file format that noone seems to know anything about apart from that it's used in the Infinity Game Engine (guess it's under wraps then :P).

I'm aware that there are tools to extract the music, but there doesn't seem to be anything to add or create your own playlists.

I'm desperate as I'm sick of listening to EAs shiznit taste in music.

This is a bit simple, why not try and rename a .wav file to .mus ?

doesn't work. the header information is different.

most files are defined by a piece of information in the beginning, called the header information. this is what generally defines file type. quite a few of the ancient file types don't have the headers (text, html, etc.) but most newer ones do. the header is even more crucial in modern games, because the header information is what the game uses to authenticate the files.
