it loads up the splash screen, then nothing else. under task manager it starts up a file called ~e5d141.tmp which dissappears shortly after the splash screen dissappears.

this also sometimes happens with rallisport challenge but it loads just fine after a few tries. wtf

might it be that im booting from cd?

Might be some troyan/virus thing. If reinstalling doesn't fix it, then that would be it probably.

Nope that's the temporary dump that your computer is doing so that you can play the game off of the cd
