the only tip i can think of except for practicing is to take off your upgrades to make them level 2 or 1, because the computer will always be the same as you no matter how many upgrades you get this will make it easier because it will be slower. as for norton just close it when you want to play online.
just right click, then click 'disable'. I used to have the same problem. You can also click 'permit' on the pop up when it blocks you, then highlight the 'always use this action' box so you can play with norton in the background.

but if its norton personal firewall its different, it will not only slow down your pc but it may block games... so I guess thats his problem, since I dont think Norton antivirus would block access to any application to use the internet...
Start with a little nitro so you begin on the first place. Then don't let anyone pass you. Use back view and when they're very close and just crash them.
It?s much easyer to beat the machine with manual transmition, so if you are using auto change for it. Besides, if you keep the AI cars in you sight, they will smash against everything.

I have played that stupid challenge a lot to get past it but i wanted to beat the game with all challenges past on hard. And i won on hard with a difference of 0.03 one mistake and i would have lost again.
Probably it's all the matter of habbit, but... When I play on my PC, it doesn't appear to be a big problem to beat opponents in any race. 103... Well, I don't remember exactly, but for me it seems like there's no traffic. No traffic - no problem. Another thing is 86th (?) : 4 laps with heavy traffic. But still, when I try it on my PC, just 2-3 attempts and I can make it. Some time ago I tried to help my friend passing 86th on his PC, and I failed. I had to try it like 100 times and finally made it. I have completed the game 4 times so far on my PC and can't remember any race which appeared to be a big problem... Strange.
Then if you don't mind take a quick look in your folder where your savegames are if you can find any files that end with .pro just like this username0.pro username20.pro or username30.pro. Because wen i didn't had tose file's the game was no problem at al but when i got the first one username0.pro the game got a litter harder then i got username20.pro and username30.pro and the game got more harder and every time i completed the game i got another .pro file and the game got harder and now i completed the game 10 time's and got the username100.pro file and i when trying to completeet it for the 11th time because i wanted the right combo of parts and vinyls i even have problems completeing the game till challenge 100 on normal level and with my first save game before i had those file's the game was no problem when i played on hard level. But when the game get's harder my speed and stuff is higher 2 so when i drag i have never lost a race so far so that's a good thing but i don't know where these file's come from so if anyone could tell me this and how to get rid of it i would be nice because on circuit my car is flying around the track when hit traffic and stuff my car just flipflop right into the air or from one side to the other. And that just take's the fun out of the game.
I think "pro" files store the online mode configuration, coz I have the game configured for online just for one Driver profile, and I don't see "pro" files for my another Driver profiles. Well, I have 6 different profiles and completed NFSU with 4 of them.
IMHO it's nothing common with the game difficulty.
If those file's store the online data then why is my game getting harder to beat. And i only have 1 online account with 4 nickname's one for me and the other three are from my little sister and brother. And one for my dad who is trying to race.
A well he's getting better each day so. but online his points never go higher then 75000 if he gets higher he lose all races because better players challengeing him and he can't beat them and when he get lower then 75000 he wins races thats weird . But one day he will be at the top if he keeps practiceing .
But my dad only does circuit online.
