Game crashes and closes in Underground mode

So I installed Underground after some time on nostalgic causes 
When I go into Underground Mode and pick Customize Ride from the menu, the game crashes and I get the common message: speed.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...
When I pick "Customize Ride" from the quick race menu however, nothing happens and I can access everything.
This is a common problem as far as I know and I've had it before but I can't remember the solution how did I fix it last time. I googled for half an hour and did'nt find a fix for this, so If anyone has an idea, please, let me know
