I'm not into the texture editing but did you try the magic wand tool?

If it selects around the car, can't you just cut it? Obviously, you must have tried that. If you're trying to put your own stuff over the existing texture perhaps playing around with a second layer will save you the trouble of cutting the car out. Afterwards, merge the layers....

But then again, I don't know what the image looks like

Use the lasso tool with Feather set to 2-4 pixels. If yuo don't know what Feather is go into the HELP option in PSP.

Thought you were editing textures for a custom vinyl or something. If you just want to cut the car out to paste it somewhere I'm afraid there's no other way to cut it with the lasso tool. But what helps is you use the Polygonal Lasso tool. Then do it bit by bit, zoom in 1600%, so you can cut really close to the edges of the car. Then click the edge of the car bit by bit, dragging the selection line along. Don't go out of the screen, just close the selection after a couple of centimeters. Then cut pieces away as you go around the entire car...

...and use Feather tool, otherwise it's gonna look edgy.

Just select and press Alt+Ctrl+D and set to 3px, Enter. Than copy/paste into your, say black background. and see the result. Hope it's solved now.

Did the selection work? Yes, it should. If not, you must go to the menu SELCET/FEATHER and than click the set number.

SO what's the point of you doing all this? I suppose you want to select your car picture, and paste it into somewhere else. SO I suggested, for the purpose of this example - somewhere else can be a black baground image. Just balck image. Paste the thing there. If words like Paste are new, than I suggest you REALLY start from the beginning.

And on a side note - when you got a problem and you are given advice, and all your response is 'Oh shiznit still can't make it' - well, that doesn't help at all, just shows you want others to guess what is wrong. This is annoying. Post details when you got an issue.

yeah, needs a bit smoother touch, but you'll get there. And put in on a black background, and it will look much better. try.
