amount of polygons in 3D model surface, I think.. The more of them, the more detailed the car is, and the fewer 'edges' it appears to have. If you get too much of them, some PC's will bog down... Get too low - and car looks like crap.
But that's coming from someone who is still to finish his first model, so let's hear it from one of the best outhere - MR. viper_gts.

lol......thx for the intro mate :)

a poly is other wise know as a face, 3d models are made up of faces which can be triangles or squares depending on the program you use.
i have attached some pics below.

pic 1. shows a 3d model
pic 2. shows the 3d model with the wireframe
pic 3. shows just the wireframe

the wireframe is made up of polies (faces).

and as UrQuattro already said..........if you're making the model for a game, then there's limits. if it's for nfs4.......i don't recommend any higher that 10,000 polies for the whole model and if it's for HP2.......no more than 20,000. also the less polies you use, the easier it is to keep the model clean.

the model in the pictures is in fact made up of over 150,000 polies, but it not for any game

Poly editing's better than Mesh editing in terms of the control you get for the shape of the model, basically.

well, I discovered that poly modelling is quite easy too if you just want a good model and not a perfect real-like one (for that you gotta have a lot of experience with 3d modelling I think)
btw, great car Viper!!!!
