skins don't work!

I used the car manager tool to add some new skins for a couple of cars,but it erases original files. Makes game crash when i try to select new car.Am i doing something wrong or not doing something I'm supposed to? Did it exactly like the readme says. BTW I'm running NFS HP2. I'd really like to figger this out cause there are some BADASS paintjobs out there! Is there maybe a detailed tutorial somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
