shift 2 is a game made by SMS that will come out in march. there will still be another anuual nfs game that comes out during fall. Most possibly that will be a UG3

There is a very minute possibility it is UG3, if that was the case then I hope they keep it true to 1 and 2. They try and take it in a new direction or change too much of the experience and feel then it will flop.

although i DO want shift2 as well, yea nfsu3 would kick butt !
assuming they do it right, with trillions of options and good looking stuff...
actually they should make a tuning game, no racing... just modifying the cars with tons of stuff xD

PS. AND I WANT MY DAMN 2nd gen CRX !!!!

XD, if they made UG3 what sort of vinyl system would you want? Oh yeah, and definitely agree with you that it would have to have a whole ton of parts, that was like the defining factor of those games.

no idea about vinyl system.. but after using Shift's today.. NOT like that!!! bloody hell..

i would love Shift's driving model and interior cam + U1 style tracks (bit more complicated ones to match the driving model i guess :) )
also, no free roam junk.. just pick track, car and get to racing.

and yea, i really mean tons of parts. little detail parts, so you can really change everything on the car and make it unique.
small example; smoked and clear lights (also the smaller turning lights on the side) and option to remove/keep all the car's badges.
the games have always lacked this detailing.

and it should have lots of street cars, also older models which are very popular on the actual streets.
but of course it shouldnt miss the faster models like R34, supra, NSX and the like, just no lambo's SUVs or anything like that.

also, a true MUST-HAVE for this game, would be easy and totally free camera control, everywhere! much like in U2, but added zoom could be useful. the hugely restricted cameras in the newer games are complete carbage !

Yeah, that would definitely be my tuners dream game.

As well as better camera control, I do miss replay mode as well, it's been absent since U2 I think.

Tbh, having U2 exactly the same but with 2011 graphics would be awesome enough for me. But if they did it correctly - a true successor to Underground 2 that maintains the formula but does everything better than the previous games, then it would be great.

1. Vast array of parts and vinyls - as you said, lots of little details.

2. A more larger and more varied selection of tuner cars. (no exotics for heavens sake).

3. Better 'photo mode' and a replay mode.

4. A large, intricate city like Bayview or Olympic City - perhaps take a page out of World's book in having Bayview/Olympic City joined together (with updated graphics ofc) with another city and connecting roads etc. (that would be a longshot, but really, I don't care how long it would take them, this would be heaven)

5. Some kind of intertwining storyline with characters from UG1 and 2, not neccessary, but would be interesting. As light and corny as the previous U games plots were, I actually had moderate interest. And none of that cutscene crap from MW - UC, god was that terrible.

They would be my key steps. Of course, the focus is on 1. - the tuning process.

i think freeroam city is not needed. U1 didnt have it, and it is racing/game wise superior to U2.
Shift has replay mode, but its not really something to write home about.. pretty standard (not that it can really be better though xd) dont care much for it.
photo mode.. meh, its never been any good, simply because of forced login and uploading and stupid text/buttons covering the screen.. useless feature.

story wise.. like U1 is fine.

XD Yeah, that list is the sorta thing I was thinking of also. When I said photo mode, I didn't mean a bad photo mode like they've had previously, but an actually useful one lol.

It's a bit of a pipe dream though, I mean I can't see EA putting in that much effort  Esp. considering all the stuff they've reused for the past 5 years.

You've really been thinking XD This would be perfect. Car list looking good too.

With a lot of the more intricate things, I think when they made autosculpt that was kind of a fake way to make you believe that you were altering every intricate part of a body part, whereas it basically was redundant. This would be heaps better.

- Remove stock spoiler would be nice
- I liked rim selection being broken up into brands in the UG games, it's easier to find the rim your looking for.

It would be amazing if a big group of the community got together and made some massive tuning mod for UG2 adding all this stuff - probably would be pretty hard, but that would be awesome. I mean I guess it's possible when you have mods for custom rims and cars...

If you were going for licensed parts it would most likely be in expense of ext. custimization though, if they were doing the former they'd definitely have less parts than if they were making them up. Plus, the U games bodykit's were pretty good, albeit a few disgustingly ugly ones.

....

I'd really want all of this done on Underground 1 driving physics.

UG2 just felt...slow.
I could drive 390 km/h in UG2 with my Skyline(i dunno how really, it was years ago i guess i just put everything on "top speed") and still feel as if driving a stock Civic in UG1

Just imagine this carlist on Underground 1 unchanged, it would already be quite a good game.
Then add some more parts, proper spoilers and more rims, more vinyls(generally more tuning content)
More tracks, pink slip races and in the end HD graphics. Done, you got a great game.

Underground 3, do want if they really made it. I think there is no doubt anymore EA Black Box will develop this game. (But I still prefer Shift 2 to Underground). Put nice cockpit view, day-night circulates, real world parts, real tuning, I'm in. I don't care if there is open world, but if they make one, make it realistic, not just some deserted-city like Undercover.
The only risk is if there is no risk at all.

with the way ea/blackbox been messing up games since mw, do you all really want them to mess up the memories of the underground games by attempting to make a half-azzed u3?

As is insinuated, this is a 'what do you want' thread. I'm sure you would love an UG3 done right, as do us all, and no one has said that they would want a bad remake of the series.

This is more of a theoretical topic, as the chances of EA doing this right, let alone at all, are slim to none.

A NFS fan can dream, right?

That's fine :) I do think that some people here wouldn't mind if EA actually announced it, but as you know, that would lead to some lofty and most likely unreasonable hopes and expectations.

The moment we dream about a GOOD game it gets unreasonable. :)

If that was possible, Shift 2 physics + tuning +street racing+free roaming + mass tuner/muscle carlist.

I could spend years playing it, if i would get to see someone jumping a closed bridge and then crashing on landing.

And then someone else crashing because of all the parts scattered near the first car.

Bonus points if it would be a randomly riced car, a pink Civic with flame vinyls or something similar.
But it will never happen :/

But that would be way too awesome, i guess you'd have to buy DLC to get 50% of all that, and then 90% of that wouldn't be available for PC

I personally think that UG2 was the best game of the series, mainly due to the setting of the city and the customization possibilities in the game. It wasnt the prettiest game, but for me, it was the most fun. Second was MW.

From UG2 onwards, customization took a back seat. It came back in prostreet and carbon was not as fun as in UG2. It(exterior customization) was pretty minimal in shift and completely MIA in hot pursuit(which is still an awesome game). I miss customization man. It was so much fun to fool around with the bumpers and light ans stuff. Unlike the recent games, customization was a core aspect of the underground series. Hope they bring it back soon.
Some pursue happpiness; others create it
