That's not gonna make Korge and the team do anything faster ¬.¬

Anyhow, sounds cool. And I like the logo.

Yeah, I do too, I made the everything but the speedometer lol

Oooh, another thing. Are you planning to have a different HUD speedo and tach for every car, TDU/PGR4 style, or just use a generic one? Different ones would be cool, but raise the art burden quite a lot.

And EDIT: I decided to see how easily I could make one, and I made an S15 tachometer from a reference photo, took ~2hrs. I didn't bother doing the needle, and missed a few small details that I couldn't make out on the photo, and I couldn't find the exact font, so I just used Hattenschweiler. The LCD is a clock, but it could be easily used as a digital speedo as well. Anyway:

Hmm, That tach is nice. A bit cartoony but goes to show that implementing them as textures may make more sense.

2 hours each. Ouch. We will start with a generic one first before we go into the details.

Just to let you guys know, we got a couple more mappers and our 2nd coder is back!

Do you guys prefer large free roam with mc2 graphics or detailed nexgen tracks????

I could probably cut it down a bit, and my workflow probably isn't the best. I just used this as a reference, and the cartoonyness is probably to do with the fact that the gauges are white. Oh, and it's an SVG I made in Inkscape so someone could probably make it look a bit more realistic in Photoshop, and it can b exported in a different size if needed.

Detailed individual pretty tracks. It would generate more interest for the mod if people see really detailed maps and they think "Wow, that mod has really awesome graphics", rather than "Hmm, that mod looks like MC2. They could really have tried a bit harder with the world mapping."

Wow. If that was your reference image, props to you. That is very well done. Still cartoony though. :P =D>

And I agree with you on the free roam. While we are working on ways to get it to work, it is difficult. But under the worst situation, we will do race tracks with the atmospheric "feeling" of free roams. Meaning more than one way to get to the finish line.

Also, I have picked mapping and modelling back up as well. 8)

Slightly pointless idea: a mode where you can roam about on foot and possibly place ramps etc on the tracks to make impromptu shortcuts? And/or a Carpark level where you can make your own autocross-esque tracks, cosidering HL2 already has the gravity gun and proper physics for breakable objects?

Sounds like a good easter egg idea.

Another thing, what sort of driving feel are we going for? Realistic, like Forza/GT, in the middle like PGR, or arcade like NFSU-NFSC?

Atleast NFS style. We hope to get something more physics related like PGR but we will be lucky for either.

Btw, a first look at our upcoming website. I only released it here cauze I want some feed back on it.

Hey guys. Over talks with some team members and other folk, we are abandoning AHR.

Afterhours Racing is a dead project!

We have decided to steer our efforts in a different (larger) direction. It will be announced sometime August 2008.

Thanks for your support! I appreciate it. It was a long road, but a worthy experience. Cya! :P

We sure could use your support and ideas over there. We need a community going so we actually have some people to present upcoming media. Plus when we need feedback on game ideas and developments, you guys can be there for us. Through surveys, polls, suggestion posting, and just being there in general, we can better tailor gameplay around the community (the way it should be).

There is more going on behind closed doors but all latest news and developments are posted on the site and will be announced by the developers.

Stig, you still want to help out? I still have ALL the documents prior to the break up.

Hope to see you guys on the forum. Maybe Ill put up screenies of the Underground inspired race map soon. Who knows.
