SHIFT $30k Gaming Competition

Post by Bojan »

PlayStation 3 and Xbox360 gamers from United States and Canada have a chance to win $30,000 which they can spend on a new car on Autotrader.com. It's a hot lapping competition with the 2 best players on each platform playing the big finals in the EA Canada studios in Vancouver.

Click here for more details on how to join the competition.

Does EA ever do something outside of North America for NFS or have they simply forgot there is anything outside it?

It's a nice competition with a very nice price so for those who are so lucky, do it!

Yes. I mean, we get ripped off all the time :( PC users always get ripped off. I live in Europe and why can't they just make a challenge for the whole world and for all platforms, like that it make any difference? I mean, NFS SHIFT is always NFS SHIFT on any platform! :) Right? :)

I'm sure the same reasons explained by NFSDrew regarding the Supra drift comp also apply:
Drew Hahn wrote:We really wanted to allow everyone in the world to be able to enter this competition but we are unable to because of the competition laws in Europe / Asia.

Most countries in Europe / Asia have laws against running competitions based on skill.

If we want to run a competition in Europe / Asia the winners must win as a result of a random draw and that kind of defeats the purpose of this competition.

It sucks that we can't open up this competition world wide...sorry guys!

What about GT Academy for Gran Turismo? It's skill based, and it's only open to some European countries and Australia. As far as the PC being left out, maybe they're worried about cheaters and/or mods.

but isn't the final for this competition AT the vancouver studio?!? so you have to be there in person, so even if you cheated to get to the top 2, you can't cheat your way out of the finals... of which you WILL lose... unless you played it legitly
