NFS World: introducing Skill Mods

Post by Hydro_PT »

Today, a new feature was added to Need For Speed: World that will change the way Driver Skills work. They are now called Skill Mods, and there's a whole new driver skill points system in place (the older Driver Skills system has been completely removed).

There's a big post at World's website that explains everything, but basically, Skill Mods will work like Aftermarket parts or Performance Parts, which means, you can add certain skills to a certain car to improve various abilities, just like you add performance parts for better performance, or aftermarket parts to improve its visual. Instead of receiving skill points when levelling up, players will receive Skill Mods, which can be won from events or purchased using Speedboost. Each skill mod can be applied to a specific car for as long as the player wants it on there. There will be an inventory of unused Skill Mods, and the number of skills has been increased from 24 to 30.

You can find more information about this new feature, and how it works, here: http://world.needforspeed.com/news/article/41836

Also, don't worry about losing your previous Driver Skills. The developers' team has made sure everyone will benefit from this change, so your older Driver Skills will be converted to this new system, and you will gain various goodies, including performance parts, especially if you have invested a lot of skill points in skills that improved the car's performance.

Other news:

In other news, a couple of cars were made available this last weekend in the car dealer, namely: the Renault Sport Clio V6, and the Porsche 911 (997) Carrera S. As a top-up car, we have the Cadillac CTS-V.

So, instead of having the ability to reset driver skills (which was something the community is been asking for), BlackBox decided it would be better to remove the old system, put this one in place and make it Speedboost only! So now instead of picking up any car and drive, knowing that the skills we had would improve its performance, we have to tune each car using certain skills. That's just stupid!

Oh god... why? I honestly only keep checking World's website because of the news. I only login to take pictures of cars to add to the Wiki. I don't play for over 2 months already. And with this new thing, I don't even want to play again...

Only the 1-star skills can be bought with igc.
Still NFS World is becoming to expensive to play.
It costs to much to get a proper car since most cars are only available with Speedboost and if you want to buy a car with igc you have to pay ridiculous prices.

Again just a way to get more money from the players, speedboost for car insurance, speedboost for amplifiers, speedboost for powerups, speedboost for cars, speedboost for aftermarket parts, even for car slots and now the next one, for skills.

This game really is becoming less and less fun to play imo.

you guys know exactly what's going on. i mean, you can win these from lucky (card) draws from events but really it's just another complexity of cars' performance which most people will pay to improve, like performance parts. i don't want my cars to be specialised for TE or racing or something, i just want good fast cars for racing that i can use in TE if i want. but i'm an ICG-only player so EA doesn't give a shiznit.
i have nothing more to add

Hey all,

If you have car slots left add cars to it. as many as you can because the more cars the more parts/skills EA will give for free..

What’s going to happen to all the Skill Points I already have?
We know that the community has put in a ton of time building up their existing Driver Skills, therefore, when the new Skill Mod feature is implemented players will receive:

- Skill Mods corresponding to your selected Driver Skills
- The number of Skill Mods will be multiplied by number of cars owned for a maximum of 125 skill mods and 50 performance parts
- Quality of the parts players will receive are 150% better than the rank of Driver Skill previously used

I think the ship called NFS World has just reached the critical point of sinking from which it won't get up. Meaning...

... R.I.P. NFS World.

Not true. After installing the ultra performance parts I got for engine, tranny, and tires, my cars are now slower than they were before the change.

In the case of my BMW, which had 4 pro tuned parts, 2 pro sport parts, top speed without skills was 211 mph, with skills 225 mph. Now with the ultra parts, which are apparently overrated, my BMW's rating increased from 669 to 687, but it's top speed is only 214 mph, which is 11 mph slower than it was before.

My Silvia didn't have a lot of good parts on it, and it's rating went from 334 to 383, but before with skills it's top speed was 180 mph, and now with the ultra parts but no skills top speed is 178 mph, 2 mph slower.

For my Elise top speed before (with skills) was 201 mph, now it's 196 mph, 5 mph slower. My Z06 went from 226 mph down to 212 mph, 10 mph slower.

The acceleration of the cars with the ultra parts but without the skills is also noticably slower.

I was not referring to the car's performance. EA clearly said cars would be slower because skills that improved handling, acceleration, and top speed were removed, or in other others, replaced with other skills.

I was referring to the fact that if you spent a lot of time choosing your driver skills, and tuning your cars, EA thought about that and they will give you skill mods according to the driver skills you had, along with performance parts multiplied by the number of cars you have in the garage. I'm not sure how it works, I haven't started the game yet, but that's what they say anyway. Those are not my words, nor my opinion, as you can see below. :) It was written in their post explaining the whole Skill Mods thing, but because it was too big, I decided to simplify it.

- For lost handling, acceleration and top speed skills, players will be given corresponding performance parts for each car tier (follows same rules as above)
- For other skills which have been retired, players will be given the Skill Mods that most closely fulfill the same purpose as the Driver Skill
- It’s important to note that players will receive Skill Mods based on the current Driver Skill points THAT HAVE BEEN USED. Therefore, if you have any driver skill points that haven’t been used, better use them quickly so you get the proper number of Skill Mod parts.

Performance parts better than rank of driver skill - this doens't make any sense. Is this trying to imply that parts won from lucky draw will be 150% better than parts won from lucky draw before this change? I don't recall lucky draw cards having anything to do with driver skill, just which track the parts were one at, with the higher level tracks having better parts.

On another note, some of the skills have been decreased, for example, ram skill before change was 75%, now the maximum using two 3 star skill mods is 50%. and the ram skill used to be 150%. It seems EA keeps taking things away from the players, and in this case with the skills mod, they took away something that was earned, and replaced it with something that most players will end up paying for with real money.
