ProStreet Preview: Multiplayer (Part 2)

Post by Bojan »

The second part of the Need for Speed ProStreet preview article us up and this time I explain as much as I can about the multiplayer modes we got to test at the community day event at EA's studios.
Race days are, like in the main career, racing events that consist of multiple race modes and to which you can take a limited amount of cars: one for each event and one backup car in case you total one of your main cars. The race modes in the race day are usually a few types of each race mode, like a grip race, sector shootout (grip where you have to set the best time on parts of the track), speed challenge (both with top speed or best time), drag (quarter or half mile) and drift. Each race day event on multiplayer has a limited car class, which then allows you to take any of your career cars as long as they belong to the appropriate class, or even limited car selection which means you can only take a car from a predefined list.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait to try it out...

I haven't heard anything about a split screen multiplayer mode, will there be one?

there will be a lan patch, later on

i like the thing with the class restriction, that way the races are kept in a ordinary way.

I just read on another website that EA is employing Punkbuster to make an anti-cheat system for ProStreet. That sounds promising, since cheating has always been a downside for NFS online.
Also, I read that there will be online AI, filling up empty spots in races. I'm wondering if that'll work well, but it sure sounds good :)

For the Wii i've seen a splitscreen mode, in the Wii developer diary video.
As for the other consoles I expect they'll have a splitscreen mode aswell.
