They most likely got EA's digital download version of the game. And it's not allowed to discuss that stuff here anyways.

I got Crysis. Really fun game. Love the motion blur and the game isn't so laggy with all of its detail. Just wow.

Hey, I also have a 7900GS.. How much did you overclocked it, and did you used a new cooler for it? Or did you follow a guide?

Playing Crysis on the PC!!!

I have to say that this is way toooooo coool than Half Life 2 Episode Two!!! =D>
Stunning as hell! But my PC is hurt every time I run the game on XP #-o

Question: How the F**K should I get rid of the damn Aliens in the Ice blasted mountains?? I constantly switch to Maximum Strenght and Maximum Speed, but this bastards keeps flanking me from behind and killing me "by surprise". There's always one in front of me distracting me and then 2 of them go behind me without notice...it has me desesperated...I'm using the standard rifle and a AK-47 (no rocket launcher sadly) and with plenty of ammo :wink:

surround them? flanking them? cloaked surprise (even though they seem to "detect" you even ur in cloak mode)?

Xturbo.

Finished Crysis a few minutes ago. In a sentence, its freaking awesome, though I did expect I to last a bit longer than it did.

A few pros and cons:

Pros:
- freedom to accomplish missions how you want to
- the feeling of satisfaction when you complete a hard task
- varied environments keep you always revising your tactics
- weapon modding system
- varied missions really do make you feel like you're a part of the Special Forces

Cons:
- game gets some what linear towards the end
- some weapons could be considered as redundant
- AI sometimes confuses itself
- the lack of gore ; if I shoot someone in the head, I don't expect it to be still attached to its body.

Personally though , I'll be playing this game over and over. :D

@xturbo - use stealth and tag them from a distance. Then try to flank them. They also jump great distances so try to keep all of them within your field of sight.

They were probably using Vista. I use XP to play Crysis and some other new games. Vista for the others.

Heh, really enjoying Crysis so I'm sort of spreading out my playing of the game so I don't just blitz through it like most of my other games...

Decided to take a screen while I was in the tank (my max settings, including 2x AA, I don't really care about smooth game play so much otherwise Id miss out on the beautiful graphics... the framerate isn't shocking either, I think it's running relatively close to 30fps or something like it)
Image

Lovin' the visual yumminess and overall awesomeness of this game, really might take my own GOTY choice.

Oh, and I don't run Vista, I wont until SP1 is released and it actually makes Vista worthwhile.

Here's a little tweaking guide for those running Crysis on medium ranged computers:

Go to the folder where you've installed Crysis (C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis ,for example) and create a text document with the name Autoexec.txt
Then put this code in -

r_displayinfo = 1
con_restricted = 0

r_width = 1024
r_height = 768

sys_spec_ObjectDetail=2
sys_spec_Shading=2
sys_spec_VolumetricEffects=2
sys_spec_Shadows=2
sys_spec_Texture=2
sys_spec_Physics=3
sys_spec_PostProcessing=2
sys_spec_Particles=2
sys_spec_Sound=2
sys_spec_Water=3
sys_spec_GameEffects=2

cl_fov=90
e_obj_quality=1
e_particles_thread=1
e_vegetation_static_instancing=1
e_hw_occlusion_culling_object=1
e_lods=1
e_shadows_max_texture_size=128
q_ShaderGeneral=2
q_ShaderMetal=1
q_ShaderGlass=1
q_ShaderVegetation=1
q_ShaderIce=1
q_ShaderTerrain=1
q_ShaderShadow=1
q_ShaderFX=2
q_ShaderPostProcess=2
q_ShaderHDR=1
q_ShaderSky=2
q_Renderer=2
r_HDRRendering=1
r_useEdgeAA=2
r_UseSoftParticles=0
r_GeomInstancing=1
r_TexMaxAnisotropy=16
r_motionblur=0

Save the document and then change the extension .txt to .cfg

The first line of the code is just a ingame fps meter amongst other things so if you dont want it just replace the 1 with a 0.

This should make the game look very nice without any lag to speak of.

P.S - I do not take any credit for this tweaking guide.

My friend asked if there will be graphics better than Crysis's graphics in the next 5 years. Do you think so or not? I think that maybe a next-gen Crytek game will have better graphics. Even though Crysis on max settings and default contrast/brightness/gamma with DX10 is already amazing, but I think that if the rocks, leaves, etc. of the game will have very HQ textures, then it will go a step further.

BTW, it's fun nuking levels in the Sandbox Editor. :mrgreen:
