Where ever you installed the game you'll find a folder called ReplayData containing two files:

Nürburgring Grand Prix HOT LAP.Vcr and Nürburgring Grand Prix.Vcr

Just replace the hot lap file with the one posted here (copy/backup your own hot lap in case you want to keep it, since there only appears to be one hot lap file). In the game main menu just go to the replay section and select the hot lap replay.

Not perfect, but my best so far.

2:56 with the keyboard. It's hard to get a better time with a keyboard. If I would have my Thrustmaster back from the PS2,I'll try a lap with it.

Slight improvement for me, 2:18.086.

Still haven't gotten under 2:18 though, but it definitely is within reach. Still a corner or two in every attempt that don't go quite as smooth as could. Just needs more driving practise I guess, to get every single corner optimal IN ONE LAP.

Heh, I went from 2:23 to 2:20 in a single lap. :P Ended up getting 2:18.1 as my best lap, so far, and that lap was really messed up.

Milestone reached!

2:17.414 is my best now. You can see from the attached vcr file which includes a ghost of my previous best (2:18.something) that it was basically one turn in the mid-section that made all the 0.6 seconds of difference. Braked harder and accelerated through the inside lane instead of going faster on the outside lane. The speed out of the corner was much better.

I did 2:16.703 but lost time on the straight towards the finish, 'cause I ran wide and got back on track with twitchy oversteer. :|

I heard people did 2:13 so I guess that's the next thing to aim for. :|

Yeah, and the provided ghost time that comes with the game is around 2:15.forgetwhat.

But I'm sure I won't get much faster than I already am with just keyboard, 2:16.5-2:17 maybe. Faster than that requires a wheel and pedals for smoother cornering and exact throttle/brake control.
