I downloaded em...played em and deleted em in the same day, the only one worth my time was Deathmatch, and that was cause it was online

You have to download them separately from steam. The whole thing is a few gigs. If you already have half life 2, it's not an issue to download, but from scratch, you're better off getting a full game like orange box, because if you don't have most of the files, little demos aren't really worth it. I already had CSS, DODS, HL2, so it was a small download. Peggle's good, and about 20mb, and half life death match is good too. Portal is short.

so i need HL2 to play them? Because my friggin computer keeps restarting when i click one of the games... and GMOD 10 does it too! and it didnt do it before

No... you don't need half life 2, just the common files that you get with any source game.
