TrackMania

Post by RedCarDriver »

...does anyone play TrackMania? I still play TMS sometimes, but it's pretty deserted online now that TrackMania United has come out.

lol, TrackMania is, although rather arcade-y, extremely addictive.

Hmm . . . we have a thread for Trackmania Nations, but I guess this is kinda different.

I have Nations and United, but I only play Nations usually.
I can't work out how to adjust the brighness on United so everything is too dark and it makes it hard to play.

Username is boganbusman.

Cool. I don't have United yet but I do have Nations. I mostly play Sunrise Extreme, though. Island mode is ADDICTIVE and FAST

My nickname on Trackmania, as in, the one you'd usually SEE, is always "HarryTrackManiac" in red text; but the internal username varies per game.

my home computer (the one i'm using now) is the most shiznit piece of junk from 1999 that you'll ever see.

64mb ram, 0.9 proccessor, 18gb memory... you get the idea

BUT, my laptop (school) has no internet, but has 256mb ram, 1.8 proccessor, 40gb memory, so that's the only thing I play games on, besides by PS2...

Yep... easy way to fix that: unplug home PC's internet connection temporarily, plug it into the laptop temporarily. Done! :D

Anyway, I still have my carskin hosted here:

http://www.geocities.com/hkvideogamer/RedRocket15.zip

for Island. It doesn't look great but it was made through the in-game painter rather than actually opening the .zip, editing the .dds with Photoshop, and importing it back in.

the info, but i've already tried that. The school's tampered with the hardware&software so that only the school wireless network can be accessed. :x

Anyway, I got rid of nations last week, in favor of CS Source (everyone plays it at my school, so it's the only multiplayer game available.)

Wait, do you personally own the computer? If so, if I were you, I'd be mad. :x Just like Windows Genuine Advantage and DRM software make me mad (which I avoid having on my computer at all costs)... but don't even get me started on those.

mate, mad doesn't cut it. I paid $1500 (which happened to be all of my money), and my parents paid another $1500 to get that laptop, and I expected to be top-quality, and I get this peice of junk that can't do crap!

And windows genuine advantage is another annoying thing...

@redcardriver-my dad has a $3000 laptop, and he uses it only on business trips once a year! Also, the skin is nice for something ingame.

Sooo . . . has anyone downloaded TrackMania Nations Forever yet?

It's a lot flashier than TMN, but I don't like what they did to the physics engine. The cars feel heaps different.
I don't have much choice though, 'cos almost everyone has migrated over there.

My nick is still Shogoki, and you'll see me in the purple/green/orange car

What did they do to the physics? Nations was extremely arcadish, and was all the better for it, especially all the jumps!

The main difference I noticed is when the car flies through the air and when you land. Hard to explain, you'll have to play it.

I was on for a while just then, and I'm getting used to it. There are heaps more track building blocks, and you will see a lot more creative courses.

Yep, getting nations forever now. What's the difference between nations and NF, and can you use your custom tracks in it from TMN?

The main difference is the graphics and track building blocks, but there are many other new features too.

I don't know if you can import old tracks, I'm not a track builder myself.

Lol... nvm, I have TMUnited... lol. So better graphics... I actually thought Track Mania United was one of the best looking games I've ever seen... beats Prostreet for Aesthetics IMO.

I'll try to get one of my tracks on somewhere...

It was great, 19 loops! And still relatively completable!

Nations now has the same level of graphics as United.
They are also compatible online, so everyone playing Nations and United Stadium are all together.

Actually a better way to put it would be: Nations is exactly the same as the Stadium component from TMU.

Lol, wow
I got a few short but retarded ones. Umm, and I made one massive stadium one which involved stealing treasure from a vault, going through the secret passages and escaping through a city labyrinth going off road to deliver the goods to the airship. :D

I think I remember one like that, but that was made by Crusard. It was actually for plain Nations and had a secret-agent theme to it. Crusard also made a bunch of other cool ones.
