Well, I will share it (read the beginning of the thread). Otherwise I wouldn't show the project. But I will put it up ONLY when the whole thing is done. So you still need to wait for a few days, as there are couple of cars that aren't done, namely the Xsara and Pajero dakar.

So that's that!
And I use Photoshop to make the skin but it's not the type of skin you'd make for NFSU. It's much more complicated as you gotta recreate the texture of the car, shadows and so on. Once yuo DL it, yuo'll see. So it's for a more advanced PSP user.

EDIT: Going towards completing the project. Here is the Xsara in a a development stage.

I've completed the Xsara, was very easy and quick, about 1 hour, so it's nice to be done with the whole WRC skin project. I won't bother with Pajero, since it's Dakar, and I don't use it ever...

So the Xsara changes:
1. Telefonica MoviStar livery with Citroen Sport. (no Telefonica logo on front bumpers for technical reasons)
2. Michelin on the intake grill instead of Xsara, transparent.
3. Total logo, replacing on hood, door, spoiler
4. repositioned Citroen logo, resized, and added technical partners (AIS Security, Kinetic Suspension, OZ Racing, Magnetti Marelli, Citroen Finance).
5. Side number enlarged and has 17 - the number Colin used when racing in 2003.
6. Nikko stickers on recolored sideview mirrors, repositioned 'Michelin Man' from the front fenders onto doors.
And overall, the car is as close of a replica as possible for the 2003 Xsara WRC Colin McRae.

The in game pictures and video will be released very soon, with the actual skins followed, after I make sure everything is tested, and there are no glitches. I'll post some in menu pics as well. This is the Xsara.

Lol, mate I did finished it already, didn't you see the thread heading?
And I found out there are a number of skins around, but I haven't seen any Silver Total pugs, any good marlboro Pug, and blue Focus. There are a bunch of Xsaras and subarus of course, and a few mitsubishis. Well, i'm still glad I did it, learned some new things in PSP.

And yes, you need PSP, and IRipper to open DDS files (same as in NFSU). http://toca.game-editing.net/files is your source for all the info.

There you have a point...

But something different by the time isn't that bad, I think...

btw UrQ: does the van drives like a van in the game?

Actually, it's not as bad as you'd think.. I even got it airborne a number of times, so go figure. At least it's better than the Citroen 2CV (it better be!).

PS> I love the Fabia WRC and feel bad because they left it out. I mean VW/AUDI seemed to cooperate well (we got Golf, and S1 Quattro...) so why not include Skoda Fabia WRC.. I don't know.

I'dd think the van would roll-over in a sharp turn... :)

Damn, a 2cv. There you name a car (can we call it a car? ). Rather a van than a 2cv (well, that's my opinion)

Uhrm, maybe they just "forgot" to put it in... It sounds weird, but it could...

Nah, I think Codemasters couldn't afford more of VW Group cars.
I mean it's one thing to include a uselss third car like Ford van, and it's another story to include something good. But it would have been a very good alternative, because 5 cars in WRC sucks.

Also note that becasue Colin drove for Citroen - we get 3 Citroens. And Colin also drove for Ford just before that - and we got 3 fords as well. All other cars are represented by 2 models at most... Interesting....

OK. Then.... BTW,...

Postby hansip87 » 21 Apr 2004, 03:32

I have downloaded the iRipper... One things that i wanna ask for u... Why do u have to recreate the shadows of the car? IMO, The one that's needed to be changed is the vynils texture only. Is it because the shadows of the car is not compatible with other texture instead of the original?
thx

Here's why - some shadows have the original graphic on them, while others don't. For example Peugeot 206 can be without a shadows vinyl. It'd not important. BUT ford Focus needs shadow replaced. Just open them up and compare and you'll understand.

No... I mean...

Postby hansip87 » 21 Apr 2004, 10:34

Is it because the shadows on the car is must be the same to the others? Well, Actually what if the shadows file is not edited?I mean leave it... Then just only change the vynil's part? Or... There's a relationship of vynil and the shadows file? I'm confused...

Yes, shadows are relatred.

Open Ford Focus Bob and BobB files and compare and you'll understand.

So yes, change skin, change the shadow too. And oftern change the interior as well (red car with blue interir is not too good. Good luck

I started working on Group B cars now.

This is Audi Team HB driven by Hannu Mikkola, the 'Flying Finn'.

Not much was done in general livery, as it's very accurate in game. But they've omitted all necessary sponsor logos. Here are my tweaks

1. Michelin logo on front lip
2. Michelin logo on rear quaterpanels
3. HB logo on doors/front fenders, front lip, trunk, hood
4. Additional Audi logo on roof.
5. SKF, BOGE and KKK Turbolader logos on the rear quaterpanel
6. Audi Fuel Injection replaced with the correct BOSCH Fuel Injection.

hmmm. think that's it.

yeah, I tried also, but didn't like the result. Dropped it, and did the 2004 livery. I went later to BHMotorsports and every man and his dog made that 2004 skin, but noone made the Makinen Evo... I think that is gonna motivate me to make one - cuz there isn't one yet.

Hem... Why just Ford? Not there in 206.....

Postby hansip87 » 24 Apr 2004, 17:41

Hi, UrQuattro.... Er.... I've seen the Ford's.. It's true that it needed to rebuild the shadow... But, what about Peugeot for example... i don't see any decal shadow on BodB? Or... You mean that if the shadow file have any decal picture on it, then if there's light touches that part then, there is any shadow that inform us that the decals looked alike embossed? Thx...
