GTA3 load problem

i've got a problem with loading savefiles in GTA3. Actually i cant load at all, it gives me an error message and crashes to the desktop.
The os is XP pro and i have Sp1 installed.

Do you have the original GTA3? Because I heard there are problems with pirated releases and winxp.

it's definitely not an original copy and the Xp ver is 2600 which seems to have often problems with compatibility.Do u really think it could be that?

Have you added anything to the game? (cars for example). It happens sometimes that if the file you changed is corrupted, the game will load three quarters of the bar and then crash.

Pirated game problems again?
Try patching the game, or maybe you need a crack

tried to patch but says: unknown ver
nothing changed in the game. install and run and then wouldnt load

youve got to patch the game to 1.1 version and that problem with stop happening
