Signature Competition #39 // Favourite Flying Machine

Welcome to the 39th NFSUnlimited SigComp!

On this occasion, you will be creating a sig based on your favourite aeronautical vehicle. That includes any plane (fighter jets, airliners, etc) or perhaps something a bit different like a flying car, or even a helicopter. Basically, any vehicle that is capable of sustained, powered flight.
However, your chosen transport must be or have been known to exist and function in real life, so that means no sci-fi or theoretical stuff.

Rules are as follows:

* Resolution restriction is no more than 550px wide, 120px high
* File size restriction of no more than 50kB
* When you have finished your entry off and wish to submit it use this

@danyutz: IMHO it would look a lot better if you removed scanlines from the plane itself, applying it only to the background

*Debates making another sig.* Heehee... Pilotless, no (major) moving parts in the propulsion system, Mach 9.6, fastest air-breathing vehicle ever built...

To give you an idea of how insanely fast Mach 9.6 is - the SR-71 Blackbird travels(ed)at Mach 3.5 and the space shuttle at about Mach 25 in orbit.

As awesome as the X-43 is, I'm not sure if a single use scramjet operating for 10 seconds qualifies as "sustained" flight

Single-use, eh? Didn't know that, and I see your point. I'd still like to see the sig in the competition, though. As simple as it is, I really like it.

Then again, if you want to get really picky, you could disqualify Pabl0z's sig, because the Hindenburg doesn't exist, anymore, and you stated that whichever 'flying machine' we choose must exist, not have existed.
