DVD Drive Problem

Post by ben_0026 »

Hi I've built myself a budget gaming rig recently. Everything's working perfectly fine until last week my dvd drive isn't working properly :( When I insert a cd or dvd, it just won't read and my pc crashed. I thought it was because of the regional settings (I've set it to 3) so I've tried playing a dvd with regional code 3 but it still crash my pc... Anybody have any clue with this? Your help is much appreciated Thx...

My pc specs:
OS:Windows XP Professional SP2
AMD Athlon Dual Core 5000+ (2.6Ghz)
Kingston PC2-6400 2GBx2
Asus Geforce 9600GT 512MB
Seagate HDD 320GB (16MB)
Asus GSURF-365 Gaming Republic Motherboard
450W Power Supply
LG GH20NS15 20X DVD±RW/DVD-R/DVD+R Dual Layer SATA Optical Burner
My pc is not overclocked .

It might be the weak power supply. That combination of components shouldn't be run on a mere 450W. Also, consider installing Windows XP Service Pack 3, and make sure you have the correct drivers for the DVD drive.

Yeah, I had the same issue. Running too much stuff on my 450. I simply disabled all useless features and unplugged a couple things I dont use.

Main culprit is the power hungry graphics card.

I run a weaker PC on a 500watt... my 450 couldn't handle the 9600GT over the 7600GT or 8600GT.

If that's the case it sounds like it was simply a driver error or something of the sort...

Good to hear it's working, though. :P
