Nice, I have one of those too. What headphones do you use with it? Mine are Beyerdynamic DT250 which are pretty decent, and before that I had some Shure SRH440 (now for sale btw).
A proper headphone amp would be nice but the card cost me enough already :o

Blew away my christmas bonus early... and got another 5970.

Ps. Just so we're Clear, this has nothing to do with gaming performance. It has to do with "mine is bigger than yours"

Pss. Seriously, it's mainly to run a specific opencl app i'm co-developing. It does run games nicely too though...

Looks hefty. Leaving room for SLI with that 1kW psu (a bit overkill otherwise)?

I'm interested to know how that Hotway external storage performs. Looks real nice (if one doesn't need it to be NAS).

Ps. I'm also in the process of upgrading my server, and also opted for i7-2600. Will post specs/pics some time next week.

Oh yeah, bogan, just remembered something you might not know or might forget to do..
Be sure to turn off indexing and automatic background defragmenting etc. for the SSD as it doesn't have any moving parts and those things just shorten its lifespan.

Been ages since I've really posted my specs here. This is the current setup:

PC
---
- HP DV6-2120tx
- i5-430M 2.26GHz
- 4GB RAM
- nVidia GT230M
- 1TB space total (on board 500GB plus 500GB Seagate portable HDD)
- 23" LG E2340V LED Full HD Monitor + 15.6" HP BrightView LED Display 1366x768 res
- Altec Lansing VS2421 2.1 sound system
- Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset (next upgrade as such is going to be a set of Monster Beats Solo headphones; simple reason being it's going to be an all-rounder tool for when I'm using Ventrilo (with inbuilt microphone) and out and about with my phone and/or iPod Touch for sound quality)
- Logitech MX1100 DarkField Laser Mouse (and a broken G9 if anyone's interested)

PS3
-----
- 60GB PlayStation 3
- Logitech G25 Steering Wheel
- See PC for TV and sound setup

360
-----
- Xbox 360 2nd Gen 60GB
- 2 guitars, drum kit and microphone for Rock Band/Guitar Hero
- See PC for TV and sound

Yeah, all that is part of the new setup I have in the games room. 360 sticks out like a sore thumb with all the masses of piano black finish I have going round here.

Nah, I dunno. I just prefer to have a larger PSU running at low loads/temps. They are not expensive anyway.
vellu wrote:I'm interested to know how that Hotway external storage performs. Looks real nice (if one doesn't need it to be NAS).
It does look very nice up close (seems good quality) but it's been giving me some trouble. When you plug it in, it tries to load something (?) and then tries to restart the PC. My PC keeps crashing instead though.
Tried formatting yesterday, it reached 59% and stopped  I will try again tonight...

Cool, thanks. Disabled the indexing and defrag scheduler.

Also, turned up the CPU to 4.4GHz using one of the pre-configured settings in BIOS.

And here is the dumb Windows thingy:

Edit: btw, this box is so quiet!! Complete opposite to the tornado machine I had before lol

If unlucky, it could be those WD20EARS drives, for example QNAP (a well established NAS manufacturer) does not recommend EARS series drives.

<clip from http://www.qnap.com/pro_compatibility.asp>
Not Recommended Hard Drives
Manufacturer Model Number Size (GB) Remark
WD WD20EARS 2000 Note5
WD WD15EARS 1500 Note5
WD WD10EARS 1000 Note5
WD WD20EADS 2000 Note5
WD WD15EADS 1500 Note5,Note6
WD WD10EADS 1000 Note5
WD WD10EACS 1000 Note5

Note5 (WD Caviar Green)
These hard disk drives have passed QNAP lab's initial verification of compatibility. However, because many users have reported unstable experience with these hard disk drives, we do not recommend using these hard disk drives with QNAP products. WD10EADS-00P8B0 and WD15EADS-00P8B0 are not suggested because of slow performance and stability issues.

Oh, I am not using the WD drives anymore. Someone told me they are not good for RAID so I went with Samsung instead.

I just noticed one of the features on this MB called XFast USB, which somehow accelerates the USB3 performance. I tried turning that feature off, maybe it will work this time.

Ok, good to know word does indeed get around on what is good and what is not for RAID configurations.

Well the XFast thing didn't help at all.

I think it's a problem with power management settings. Something is turning off the USB port after a certain amount of time (which seems random) and stops whatever operation I'm trying to do.

I disabled every power-saving feature I could find and that seemed to help. I was able to transfer my files at last. It didn't go perfectly smoothly, but whatever, it's good enough.

USB3.0 is impressively fast though, my average transfer speeds were around 180-190MB per second! Ridiculous speed

Glad you got it working. That is impressive transfer rate indeed. Don't have any USB3 devices myself even though my motherboard supports it. Most of my stuff is stored either on the server or my qnap nas anyway (which are connected to via 1Gbps lan).

Asus 1015PN :
CPU: Atom N550 @ 1.5 Ghz, Dual-core, Hyper-threading, 512KB L2 Cache
RAM: 2 Gb DDRIII @ 1333 Mhz (upgraded, stock was 1)
GPU: 1. Nvidia ION 2 (GT218) 512MB (discrete)
2. Intel GMA 3150 (integrated, for power saving)
Monitor: 10.1" 1024x600.
Keyboard: It's purely awesome for it's sizes.
Touchpad: Elantech with multitouch. 2 buttons.
Battery: 6-cell Li-ion. max 8 hours on Windows. 6 hours on Linux.
Other stuff: 3xUSB 2.0; HDMI-out; SD/SDHC/MMC card reader; wi-fi; bluetooth 2.0; 0.3 mpx webcam.

It packs quite a punch for it's sizes. NFSMW runs at about 40 fps on medium at 800x600.
