ok im trying to make it so theres a place we can upload videos of times, top speeds, tutorials for drifts etc on this site. recently in the top speed thread its been found out that the screenies can easily be manipulated to show outragous speeds. so i went and got a program called fraps and made a video of me getting 390km/h. the problem was the file was huge but with using virtual dub i managed to get it down to 15mb sacrificing quality, but it still shows what i wanted to proove.

now if we had a section we could put our videos people could show off there drifting skills as tutorials etc and also post records for top speed and fastest times in drag prooving there not cheating at the same time.

i think this would be a great idea and am hoping enough votes will make this happen so please vote!

Yup, would love to see such a section - I ain't online with my PS2 so it'd be great just so I could glean a few tips from other's driving. Only problem might be server space I rekn...

Apparently you use this fraps program to capture the game output to a (large) video file. For me, the ps2 is feeding through a video capture card, so I just click 'record'...

Just googled for it - you can dl a demo that's crippled to taking only 15 sec clips. Dunno what the full version price is. The site is http://www.fraps.com/

to record with fraps is easy. you start the program, go into a game, when you get to the part your want to record (ie the start of a drag) press F9 or whatever button you assigned it to. press f9 again to stop recording. make sure you have at least 4 or 5gb free before hand though as the video files are huge. then get a program that can compress the video to make them smaller. try virtual dub here

when you open your video file in virtual dub go up to the video menu and click on compression, then choose you compression method. i just did a few different types and a couple of compressions until i got it down to a reasonble size. i managed to get a 1.5gb file down to 15mbs. the quality is shot but it still shows what i was trying to get across (the top speed)

one think that will be hard to do though is show 10 lap drifts as this would create such a huge file using fraps recording it would probally never be able to get below 1gb which would be hard to put on the site. if someone else knows of anyother recording programs that don't take up so much room please let us know.

Yeh I like the idea of a tip and tricks video section, Abrams. Much more manageable than an open 'post your huge video files' section

like i said it is possible to make them small. also it would be just for showing your skills in certain things, ie drag times, drifting scores and top speeds etc and also maybe circuit races.

I hear ya ragnar, but even at 15Mb and crap quality, that's adding up to a lot of bandwidth and server space with the member counts around here, even if only 1 in 10 or 20 actually posted anything...

if you would have read the fastest speed topic you would know what i mean. the whole reason i want a place to post them is that with screenshots they can be manipualated to be whatever speed you want. a person did this by putting up 500km/h as there top speed and admited to changing it in photoshop to show how easy it was. with a video it would be proove.

but you joined 18 jan? how can you be a staff memeber already? what do you do better than others that warrants you being a staff member. also you say the most you've seen is 380. well if you watch my video im doing 390 and thats easy to do. if you do the same think i do you can get it, heck anyone can get 390 if they draft propabally. the tough part is getting the draft at the right time to get more than that. and i do believe it is possible to get 400, i have done this but not on video.

If you wanted to fake a video you would have to edit frame by frame, which would make you a real nerd. LOL However, at least you'd have to have some credit fotr your effort.

i reckon why the hell would you want to fake a screenshot let alone a video? thats just pathetic. also abrams the higest top speed done by a screenshot is something like 403km/h and i myself have done over 400km/h
