At a other board (IGN.com) there was a NFS award, so I think wre can do the same thing...
set up a few catagories like:
- Best poster
- nicest poster
- Best Spammer (most posts in last period...)
- most helpfull

i'd have to disagree with the best spammer award though or any award that would encourage people spamming all sorts of rubbish just to increase there post count........it's against the rules
Heh - the old Stig tends to rush the typing sometimes! I believe it's supposed to read 'NFS Unlimited Awards - A Good Idea?'. It's the g-f finger error that's got you, it did me for a while too!
He's talking about a similar setup in place on the IGN forums where posters are 'awarded' certain titles based on their activities - most helpful poster, most active poster, etc etc...

what I ment with spammer is best poster in amouth of post in recent time (normal usefull posts... not pure spam for higher rating)
AND I think a member can do the whole system so the admin and mods don't haver to worry about the work that goes into it..

Mm, like the choices, just think the 'best spammer' options maybe needs rewording to make it more representative.
This *could* be worked into the site in such a way that it was member driven, buy implementing a voting system - members could vote for other members in the various categories. How does it work at 'that other forum'?? Is it admin/mod driven, by user votes, or what??

- Best you knwo what = chcken
- Veteran board member = Helmut
- Best nOOb (aslo positive) = mrnono

Hmm, well maybe we should think about giving it a try - can't hurt to have a trial run in the forum first to gauge support for the idea. If it works, then it might be further built into the site..
Just need to think hard about the categories, make sure they don't encourage people to break the site rules or bring anyone down. Like the Worst Poster thing - don't think that should be there for example.

everything sounds ok, except those awards that go - worst poster /Best spammer - i think viper made a good point in it. Awards should be for some good achievement, not for spamming. That's just wrong. But you have enough other stuff on the list... I think spammers should be ignored - this isn't a shchool to educate them - and if they spam - it's a personality part, and will have nothing to do with any reward to encourage them to do otherwise. I mean a spammer usually spams on all forums, so you won't stop it. so that idea is bad.
