EA ANNOUNCES NEED FOR SPEEDâ„¢ CARBON

Best-Selling Racing Title to Hit the Streets this Fall

Redwood City, Calif. - June 22, 2006 - Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that Need for Speedâ„¢ Carbon is in development and will hit the streets this November. Developed by EA Black Box in Vancouver, British Columbia, Need for Speed Carbon delivers the next generation of adrenaline-filled street racing and will challenge players to face the ultimate test of driving skill on treacherous canyon roads.

"We pride ourselves on our ability to reinvent the franchise and continually uncover new and exciting trends in car culture. Canyon Racing is a real test of a driver's skill and we think it provides a fantastic game play opportunity to lean into," said Larry LaPierre, the game's executive producer.

What starts in the city is settled in the canyons as Need for Speed Carbon immerses you into the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing. You and your crew must race in an all-out war for the city, risking everything to take over your rivals' neighborhoods one block at a time. As the police turn up the heat, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve. Need for Speed Carbon delivers the next generation of customization giving you the power to design and tweak your crew's cars in every way using the ground-breaking new Autosculptâ„¢ technology. Represent your car class, your crew, and your turf in Need for Speed Carbon, the next revolution in racing games.

Need for Speed Carbon will be available for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Wii™ as well as the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Xbox® videogame system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube™, Nintendo DS™, Game Boy® Advance, PSP™ (PlayStation Portable) handheld entertainment system, PC and mobile. Gotta say, I'm pretty pleased about this... I don't care how much people whinge, I'm still buying it.

If you don't want to 'rice' your car, then don't go near the modifer places, only head to the performance shops....

The thing I'm wondering is..... If you break through the barriers, will your car be totalled for good?
If so, I'm looking forward to that, it'll definately make the game more "you stuff up, you're gone" which is something Ive always wanted in a game.

^^ I'm not too sure about that.. Didn't see anything on police. But whoever said NFS Carbon is only for PS3 (or PS2, whatever that is) only? It turns out it'll be for PC as well.

I wasn't sure at first, but it's starting to look more promising. Downloading the large trailer at the moment.

Just as long as you can crash through the barriers and kill yourself, or at least the car. It wouldn't be too realistic if the barriers kept you on the road if you hit them at 180 MPH.

At least it's coming out on PC.

EDIT: Just seen the trailer - I can't believe I'm saying this - I'm starting to get excited. I just hope it will run on my existing GFX, as my pc is AGP only!

Funny how they really annoy us by putting PC almost at the end of the list, almost thinking that EA isn't going to bring out a PC version.

This ''Autosculpt'' is probably made up by EA and still new, that's why you can't find anything on it. Nobody knows what it is. Sounds interesting though.

Gotta say that there is room for improvement on the graphics part.. Hope it's better in the final version.

Perhaps someone from the EA crew actually played (!) Juiced, so they maybe know a better way to pull it off? Do you have to be pessimistic about everything?
