There is nothing about franchise cut.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking of too when I read headline on NFSUnlimited. 1UP is just trying to get people to visit their website, even if it means bending the truth. The fact is that EA was planning on opening a NEW, third studio in Vancouver and now the plans have been scraped. They'll still have the other 2 open, even though they'll cut down the workforce but they're still open.

Think about it realistically. Yes, EA is cutting some of their franchise and games, like Tiberium (which is a shame because the game has monster potential) but they won't cut their SUCCESSFUL franchise. Despite the low quality and bad rep of NFS games, they're still very successful. I mean, they're still releasing a PS2 version after all these years.

I don't want NFS to be cut but I do want them to lose sales so EA can wake the firetruck up, take a break a year or two and make a PROPER NFS game. And as much as I like GRID, it's not NFS so selling the rights to Codemasters will truly kill the NFS franchise.

Here's my thoughts, for what they're worth. All that matters to EA at the end of the day is cold hard cash, it makes buisness sense in the current economic climate that sales figures affects what happens to the Need For Speed franchise. Lets not forget that NFS was to be axed if Underground didn't sell. I just hope the plug has not been pulled yet.

What EA need is another Underground, now I'm not saying U3, But something that makes you sit back and say wow the same way NFS U did. NFS U totaly revived the series, it's legasy can still been seen in the NFS games today. Also spawning many copycat games such as Juiced, Street Racing Syndicate, etc. Of course NFS U was influenced by The Fast And The Furious, and FnF 4 is out next year, maybe EA will cash in on that.

EA will never sell the franchise, besides if another dev makes a great game using the NFS franchise, how bad would that make EA look.

This game needs a new game engine for a start, at least DX10. Undercover still looks like MW to me. Personaly I'd like to see such things as user created content like bumpers, wheels, vivyls, etc (not sure how this would work on those console toy thingys), some RPG elements (houses, crews members, good/bad guy stats, driving stlyes, ricer/exotic/muscle, etc), Better multiplayer modes set in an open world, a bit like GTA IV.

Of course you can't please everyone. IMO NFS can't go back to the A to B racing the likes of HP2, games are more sofisticated now. Well I'd like to get more off my chest, but I'm gonna go play Undercover now.

C'mon EA, make the final Need for Speed-game the ultimate in the series with all the characters from Underground 1 to Undercover.

Tagline could be

"The Final Race"

Though I can't say if this is all true or not, one thing's for sure from their comments: Those guys really must have something against ANY NFS game after HP2. PATHETIC, considering that one of those new NFS games (Most Wanted) is the best NFS ever to most, topping the original Hot Pursuit even.

So you want another average game?
Since when was MW so average? One of the best games in the "new era".
What do you mean "new era"? Probably the games since UG, right?
I liked underground 1 & 2 ok, but MW was average at best and since then the NFS games have been just crap IMO and I haven't bothered to even try them farther than the demo until Undercover.. which is another crappy game.

EA should keep making nfs and not sell it whether its tru or not

GRID- the main point is to have fun with realistic racing

MCLA- the main point customizing ur ride

Burnout- the main point r the crashes

Flatout- they haven't made a new one yet but its about the crashe and ur driver flying out the window

GT5- i don't even need to awnser this

NFS- the main point is the Street RACING and POLICE

just wanted to share that cuz it came to my mind

I'm amazed by EA and I have been amazed basically for the past 3 years. They produced two great games like NFS U & NFS U2. The series was followed by MW but after that - basically - Nothing.

NFS changed direction with customisation with Underground, and people loved that. However, they did not work on that side. We have been asking for real car kits for the past 4 years - but EA gave us huge ugly body kits - which the bad was repeated year after year. They gave us Autosculpt - Great Idea for Rims and Spoilers - but I'm sorry, the kits are $hit and when autosculpted they are even worse. Why EA cannot get to where Midnight Club got with customisation. EA seem they get one thing right and 20 wrong.

Racing - how come a bugatti veyron does not meet 400kmph on the game, while in real life it is proven that it does... and an other car can beat it on speed. Does this make sense? Of course not!

Do you know what EA needs? EA needs 3 NFS gamers who are litteraly brought into the team to revive the brand and get in these ideas. I'm in for the job if EA want to contact me :P - I assure you we would get a great game in return!

Do not trash the game - if you want to trash it - then sell the franchise - there are people dying out there to create something better than what you did!

Oh they haven't?
I'm pretty sure I have FlatOut 2, but I guess I'm just speshul.
+ There's also FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage which is pretty much just FlatOut 2 with updated graphics.

I don't care if they stop/sell the franchise to other company. For 3 years, they were recycling the games, that really had success on the market.
The only thing EA really wants is money, with no other huge improvements. So, if they do this, why are they wondering they got bad reviews from multiple video games websites?!

And if they don't have new ideas, then copy other games' storyline and improve 'em.

Btw, I'd love to see GT5 on PC. That would rule anything!

Isn't that what every gaming company wants is money? I mean, even Nintendo wants to make a quick buck, so that's a bit common.

Let's hope 4th time's the charm for EA. If they fail the 4th time which I hope not... I'm really gonna start doubting the series's future.
