best way to crop ur car

Post by Death Ranger »

what's the best way to crop a car out of the game to puton say a cool background or gradient? cuz i'm using the rubber stamp or lasso to paste it roughly and then get rid of all the unwandet bits with the history brush or eraser, it's a lot of pain staking work and i don't always get good results (i.e shaving off parts of the car)

p.s i'm working with photoshop cs2 and using a mouse

plz help.... :)

cs2... kool program... i use the magic eraser.... works for me... but of course i never take shots of my car in the garage... the lighting is always so wrong....

i used to use background eraser on paintshop pro 9... but then i got photoshop cs2 and started using the magic eraser.... both are highly effective, although i find that with both, i need to do a little "hands-on" tuning to get the result i want....

to get the gradients, use layers.. put the gradient on a layer below the car...

hope this helps

never happened to me... then again, i take shots of my car just outside the airport place thingy.... i use the NFSU2 +10 trainer... it has a camera lock option... i find taking shots here result in the car having much more detail and reflections than in-garage shots... google for the tool, u'll find it

here are the settings for my magic eraser (all defailt, i ddint change a thing)
Tolerance: 32
Anti-alias; Checked
Contiguous: Checked
Sample Layers: Unchecked
Opacity: 100%

i can never use just one tool to get what i want... i always need to fine tune... after using the magic eraser, i use a 1 pixel eraser to shave off the nasty edge-remnants it leaves... time-consuming, but to each his own...

What do you mean, you have to click around the car to select it.

He's saying it takes a long time to do it right and he's looking for a faster way :) P.S. lasso is probably the fastest way, but i haven't experimnted with them all yet.

hope that helps :D

^^^ agree with everyone, I use polygonal aswell, I used to use the magnetic lasso sometimes in showroom1, but then I was using in-game shots which usually made a better contrast between light and dark areas, but for showroom pics it's just too unpredictable even if you set the anchor points to it's highest setting

l use the polygonal lasso and get up close removing bit by bit, it never takes more then a couple minutes. I think its more accurate then the magical lasso since that one goes off course when attempting to go through contrasting areas. Plus it works well when taking out the little holes between certian spoilers ;).

Yes you can, duplicate the car layer, flip it, transform it using ctrl and alt and adjust it to fit, then adjust the opacity of the layer
