Well the people at the store said they could have a 7900GS made for me and it would cost 149.99 (GeForce 7900GS KO) But before I do that when I get home i'll have to check the 12V ratings and the supply to see if it can handle the 7900 if I can't then i'll have to go with a 7600GT or something close to that

only 300W ? damn id say your best bet would be a 7300GT. last i checked the 7600 GS had a minimum of 300W and it still didnt run that great when hooked up to a 300W PS (fro some reason the comp didnt see the disc drive until i took out the 7600 lol). but seriously the 7300GT is a pretty good card, i read a review where it actually was better than the X1600 in some games and it runs most of todays new games with ease like BF2,FEAR,GRAW,Carbon etc. and it should last you a while

I ran a 7600GT With a generic 350W. Just try it and if it doesn't then jut buy a $50 PSU. Logisys makes fair PSU's for the price. I've never had a problem with anything I bought from logisys.S2000_Skyline12 wrote:Nah it should i'm gonna go check it out now
EDIT:...PSU stats
300W
12V Rating: 16A
Looks like i'm not getting the 7900GS or 7600GT...
Just try the 7600 on the 300W. I've heard people do it on a 250 and it still work... so the best thing to do is try.

With the 8800 GTS/GTX, you have to use nTune ... Every other utility I've tried doesn't work ...NFSBLUECIVIC wrote:probobly 1 86. I wan the new 8 cards to come out so i can decide if its worth getting a 88 or an 86.
EDIT
So if i do get the 8800gts, i have heard that you can overclock it to speeds higher than the gtx no problem, no heat issues or stability or anything, so what i want to know, is how exactly do you overclock it? is it in the bios or can you do it with like that nvidia program, ntune or something?
EDIT 2
So im finished with my new computer, all except the video card, but i dont want to wait like a month to save the rest of the money to get an 8 series, so do any of you know about that thing with eVga where you can upgrade to any card and just pay the difference? If so i want to get like a 7300gt or a 7600gt and use that till I have enough to go to a 8 series. Thanx again
The 8800 GTS overclocks like crazy if you have good cooling in your case ... I really emphasize good cooling in your case because the card draws a lot of power and, without proper cooling, will run really hot. With good cooling, you should be able to match performance of the 8800 GTX with little effort (~11,000 in 3DMark06). The GTS does have huge gap to make up as it lacks 32 unified shader processors and has a lower bus-width on the memory.
For eVGA's upgrade program, you have to register the card within several days of purchasing it, exchange the card within 90 days of purchasing it, and pay shipping and handling to and from eVGA. It's really not that great of a program because you're without a card until they ship you the new one ... and they don't ship you the new one until they receive your old one.
7600 GT requires a minimum 350 watt ... which is why yours works ...Carcrazy wrote:I ran a 7600GT With a generic 350W. Just try it and if it doesn't then jut buy a $50 PSU. There's absolutely no way in hell you're running a 7900 GS off a 300 watt power supply, period. A 7600 GT might work on a 300 watt power supply assuming you're using a power efficient processor, only one optical drive, and only one hard drive. Even if it does work, you can't guarantee that the power supply is going to be able to supply stable voltage and, thus, you could end up destroying a lot of expensive equipment in your PC later down the road.
My advice is to just spend that extra $50 and get a new 450+ watt power supply and get the 7900 GS ....

Been there... done that... ever think of why I just bought that 600W PSU last week?S2000_Skyline12 wrote:I've heard that by trying some have thier comps start up and then shut right back down
That's also called an OEM Operating System that can't boot with the new hardware configurations...
Also Been there... Done that... ever wonder why I had to buy XP MCE Last Month?

1st:1GB of RAM
2nd: 535W PSU

This summer I've got $1000 of upgrades on my list!!!
AM2 2.4GHz Athlon FX
4GB DDR2 RAM
Awesome ECS Mobo
500GB HDD
Two 7600GT's (overclocked) SLI'ed -- Or One 8600GTX
Oh yeah... and Windows Vista Ultimate! I can't stop staring at it! I'm almost tempted to install RC1 on my PC again! The retail version is awesome! I haven't even found any bugs in it yet!!!
My computer is gonna be %^*^ing fast as hell!!!!!!!

Does anyone know whats up with my graphics card? I have an ATI Radeon X1900XTX and on newegg it says the memory clock is 1550MHz and the core clock is 650MHz. Yet when I look at the ATI Control Panel, it only shows 500MHz for the core clock and 594MHz for the memory. Please answer this question if you can, it seems every time I ask something, nobody replys for days and days. The core clock does go up to 641MHz when I play a game and the memory clock goes up to 774MHz, but the memory is a considerable amount lower than it should be. Also does anyone know how far this can be overclocked with stock cooling? Sorry for the long post.

^^There's your answer!^^
Na but alot of the do that... I'm not sure what the cause is but alot of programs mess up on ckock speeds, mine only shows half the speed in some program (according to a newegg review) and it totally kicks ass! (If I may throw that in)
So I can't think of anyway to fix it... It's not acting slower than it is supposed to is it?

Don't think anything is wrong, especially when you multiply 774 with 2.. Which is almost 1550. My card's speed is displayed the same way.weedman173 wrote:Does anyone know whats up with my graphics card? Ok, well could someone explain to me why someone with the same processor and graphics card got score of 8079 in 3Dmark06 and I got a measly 5471?The other person only has a gig more RAM, that can't raise the score that much, can it?
As a matter of fact here is the system of the person that got the 8079:
HERE
And Here is mine:
HERE\
Also, I posted this before. Could that be the reason why its not as high?

weedman173 wrote:Well, take a look at this picture. The four little things that I circled came off during an installation. I had to put in a new motherboard after my other one died and those fell off when I installed the card. Could that be the cause any performance loss? Also Im going to try to RMA the card for a high pitched noise coming from it. It's not the sound a fan would make, maybe one of the capacitors whining.
It's not messing up the speed. It's displaying the actual speed, but it's effective speed is double.Carcrazy wrote:Na but alot of the do that... I thought I answered that before. You're running a faulty card in your system, simply because you wrecked it.
