911 turbo, but I got him totaled at the start and cruised the rest.

So I used:

911 turbo - Speed
Supra - Drag
Evo X - Grip
RX7 - Drift (he has a second set of events)

speed challenge - skyline r34 stage 3 (evo X)
make the gear ratios smaller for more power (leave the "final drive ratio" on tall)
concept olsens rims from traction
dont even bother racing at maximum speed just stay on his tail for like 90% of the race and go for the win in the last 10%

drift - Rx7 stage 3 smaller gear ratios as well and try and keep ur drifts as long as possible.

grip - subaru or evo x (or IX)

Speed Challenge: Porky 911 Turbo Level 3 - easy first win, as he totalled himself over a hill :D . Couldn't get him to crash on the second one though.

Drift: Toyota Corolla AE 86 Level 3 and a bit of tuning. All gear ratios set to short, suspension & tyre pressures setup for max oversteer.

Drag: Toyota Supra, all level 3 apart from level 4 tyres, only level 4 part I won all game!

Drift: Mitsubishi Evo X all level 4 parts - had to use "unlockallthings" code as won almost no level 4 parts throughout career

Sorry but as far as I know the Rims don't do a thing, they don't improve traction and are not lighter then anything else. Ok almost all AI cars in Speed races have these horrible CO closed wheels. (CO is basicly EA's own work)

Yup, I struggled in the begging with a faster car, but then I changed to a more stable one

Speed: ///M3: engine, and turbo are 1st level, rest are 4th, custom body kit, and wing
Drag: Supra: 4th max everything, wbk, drag wing (last on the list)
Grip: R35 GT-R: 4th max everything, stock body kit, stock wing
Drift: 350z: 4th max everything, wbk, wing (sorta curly one, last carbon wing on the list)

I got the max ups from unlockallthings, hope that helps.
Dont worry if you cant catch up with him in the beggining with the M3, you will eventually :D

Hi!

Best Cars before Booster Pack (and probably after also! :D):

Grip - Pagani Zonda (Fastest) / Porsche 911 Turbo (Best Point Rate)
Speed - Porsche 911 Turbo
Drift - Mazda RX-7
Drag - Pagani Zonda (Fastest) / Best Point Rate GT500 or 240SX (didnt tested, supposition)

OK, they way to beat Ryo is to get the same (or almost the same) car!

I got the 2 Evo IXs, 2 Dodge Vipers and 1 RX-8. Evo for grip and drag, Viper for Wheelie and Speed, RX-8 for drift. Absolute gun combination

I beat RYO with:
- R34 GTR for speed (406km/h top speed, one race averaged 330ks.)
- Infinity G35 for wheelie (410m wheelie)
- '06 Mustang GT for drag (better half mile than infinity, slightly worse quarter mile, but this isn't set to wheelie the whole track)
- AE86 for drift (Perfect for the second track)
- Rx7 for drift (Has the power to get more points, which is needed in such a tight track.)
- R35 GTR for Grip (Track records, out corners RYO, out brakes him, out accelerates him out of corners... his car is slightly faster, but the above more than made up for it.)

I DOMINATED! Ryo and all the Kings with these cars:

Grip: Porche 911 Turbo
Drag: 240sx
Weelie: Chevelle SS
Drift: AE86
Speed: Nissan Skyline.

Everybody was pretty easy for me.

Close to any RWD car will take you to drag king if you know how to drive.

When you say that any RWD car will take you to the drag king, do you mean that any RWD car can beat him too? (with a large amount of driving skill)

Well put it this way... S13s are capable of 7sec passes and they are your first car. So it isn't difficult at all to get drag king. You do need to know when to shift though, and be able to tune easily, but it takes the least skill to win. And if you can do drag king, you can beat RYO.

With me I beat RYO with these.

Lancer Evo IX - Speed
Lamborghini LP460 (or 640 or whatever) - Grip
Dodge Charger R/T - Drag/wheelie
Mazda RX-8 - Drift

With the speed challenges I just rode his nose all the way. If he tried to get past me I would pull in front of him and he would slow down. Also don't go full throttle all the way on speed challenges. You reduce the chance of crashing and/or totaling your ride if you just accelerate occasionally like keeping the speed around 143 - 160.

I think that you should change the LP640 and the IX around!

Okay, and about beating Ryo, that so far, according to you guys, is pretty easy. However, I ALWAYS have trouble in Speed races. I have my questions in another topics-please view!

Heres the cars I used to beat him in racer mode:

Mazda RX-8 (Grip)
Mazda RX-7(Drift)
Toyota Supra(Drag)
Dodge Viper(Wheelie)
Ford GT(Speed)

for speed challenges (not top speed) I tried to total him, this way he won't be hogging up the road in the treacherous Nevada terrain >.< So just total him in speed challenge and your set.

Yeah, everyone seems to think that the R34 owns in speed. That eing said, did you use stage 3 or stage 4 parts?

It is capable of 406km/h using all stage 3 parts. And it has the wide body kit and hood and spoiler for aero. So it's less tuned than Ryo's car. :D

r u serious!?!?

Man, that must be REAL useful. Do you think the R35 is better, or the R34???

Oh, and do you have to tune it heaps? Coz I don't really have a lot of time (1 hour a week!) on my PS2...

Tunings not hard... max boost, nos to where you want it, advance timing a bit, max aero, raise final drive for top speed.

You see, speed races are very long, and I get distracted.... when traveling at 300+, it can be bad. Also, I let my cousin drive a bit... and I don't get a lot of peace anymore.
