Umm... not as far as I know. It is considered a good car by the public and car magazines. Not sure what the carisma is, but the 380 is a large Australian made car that was the replacement for the Magna, another car that was a high achiever in the Australian market. Good stiff chassis... steers well. Fun to drive on the great ocean road, felt well built and the engine was responsive. Only gripe is that the gearbox holds onto gears for too long, but then you can just do tiptronic mode.steelsnake00 wrote:baumaxx1 wrote:Mitsubishi 380.
Isn't that just the bastid son of the Carisma, the worst car ever made?
Styling only though... apparently.Nah, it's the bastid son of the American Galant.
Yeah, doesn't feel like a massive fat car which is FWD and has a fair bit of power going through the front wheels (for a FWD). Which is good, because it'd be crap otherwise. Unfortunately, it does have the rear vision of a supercar... ie, none. No joke, The bottom of my rear window lined up with the bottom of the car behind me's windscreen when I was parking and there was over half a meter between us. Hard to park and keep track of it''s bits.My dad took a test drive yesterday. It was better than I expected...
And about the car. Learn to drive, then buy the car. Simple. Once you can handle a car, then step up. A turbo 4 isn't that easy to drive though compared to a smooth big V6. The response isn't as refined. I like big engines... just leave your foot at that one spot and the needle stays where you want it... twitch the foot and off you go. The instructor's elantra was a b!+(# to drive because you had to put the foot to the floor to go anywhere.
But yeah, start with something easy to drive... either a small agile thing with a zippy, but not monstrous motor... civics are still fun, but if you want RWD, AE86! Or a slow NA S13 or skyline. Or a regular domestic cruiser, maybe the slightly "sporty" variant. But I would not go turbo/high-po unless you trust yourself and your parents half trust you, and you are seriously cashed up.
