NFS-Planet reports of new interview with Need for Speed SHIFT producer Jesse Abney on Kikizo. While the interview is more or less about game features we've already heard about, Jesse does mention functioning pit stops and static weather.
The interesting bit of the article however is about another game, Need for Speed World Online, the free MMO game which is currently in closed beta in some Asian countries. The game will launch later this year in North America and in 2010 in Europe.

I liked the pit stop idea. But I hated the Europe release date! Why 2010????

Release date: 2010 for Europe?
Maybe EA wants to test it in USA first? Who knows? =\

That sonds to me like longer races! I really hope so.Jesse Abney wrote: There's functioning pit stops too, and while in today the pits tend to be functional but not really purposeful, you'll certainly see some game modes potentially being announced which take advantage of that element of racing.
