I started this just because I'm curious to know what kind of music you will listen in "sim racers". Now is the turn of NFS Shift, and I was wondering: Which song keeps you focused or keeps you happy or whatever emotion/feeling makes you race better?
I did this minutes ago:

I always play the old school songs from older NFS's such as "Snow Bags" (NFS III), "Quantum Singularity" for menus (NFS IV) among others. I don't know, but it gives me a better feeling and makes me race better also keeps me pumped in the race with all the beats and techno hehe. All we need now it's a mod which allow us to replace that annoying "ambiental sound" from the menu's and I'll be happy lol.
Let's talk bout it
Which music you listen while racing in Shift?

The music of my enginexturbo wrote:..what kind of music you will listen in "sim racers"...

Indeed. While racing, nothing. It actually helps too, being able to really hear engine revs, tire noise and what not to really push the limits.
Re: Which music you listen while racing in Shift?
Same here. No music when racing.
Re: Which music you listen while racing in Shift?
Well, yeah, at first I used to race without music, hearing the engine and that stuff, but later I got used to race like mechanically by just seeing the RPM gauge in the interior car without hud, so I started listening to the music while I was keeping an eye in the tachometer too, weird but true.
Now the playlist must be the old school ost from all the NFS's before HP2. It gives another feeling like: Omg I'm playing a remake lol

No music. Mazda RX-7. and a long straight road ahead!

No music here either. Unless I'm playing an arcade racing game, then I might listen to the sountrack of that game (NFS, FlatOut, etc).

same here, on arcade games i use soundtrack/play my own music(rarely...most likely there are atleast 3-5 tracks i like in the game that are enough for me)Hydro_PT wrote:No music here either. also playing a game like Flatout Ultimate Carnage without music wouldnt be the same...the sounds of cars are not bad but also not enough to keep me, sounds of the crashes are good but not played always(lol )
and music adds to the flow of destruction...

I guess as a rule of thumb, music serves to carry the player in games that do not require much skill and precision. In games that are more simulation-intensive and require more attention, music only distracts and gets in the way.

i turn the music to "ZERO" whenever i race. i like hearing the revs of the engine and it helps me in timing my gear change...
