cuz you said an 8400 is the same thing as a 7300, or 7100 or whatever. so i might as well save myself some money.

There is still some performance increase and it's DX10 also (though it will suck at it). You better buy a 8500gt or if you can buy a 8600GS/GT/GTS that is even better.
Still why buy a low end card?

As a makeshift, then you can buy a high-end when they come out.

Because it won't play many games. Chances are if you only use your PC for light gaming, then you only use it when a totally awesome PC Only game comes out.... they almost always have awesome graphics, meaning those few games you play may not even run.

If this guy is buying a low end 8 series card, most of the new or coming soon games will work for sure...just not on full throttle graphics, and high FPS. ;)

Plus, this guy is low on cash, meaning if he buys a higher end card, he'll have to spend bigger bucks for his PSU...etc.

If I understood this right... that is less powerful than my 7600. Granted, even though it has a factory overclock and my own overclock, it still has trouble on some games....

Carcrazy you say that afterwards he can buy a higger end Gfx card well it depends cuz if the 8900 or the 9 series will be PCI-E 2.0 then there will be no other choice then to buy a new Motherboard.

yeah i'm just gunna go for the 7600GT, and then get another one and put it in SLI. that is if i end up having a mobo that has 2 pci-e slots.

If you have the money for a 7600GT don't buy a 7600GT; buy a DX10 card like 8500GT or in the best case 8600GS cuz times are changing and DX9 cards are not even worth it anymore, i heard the nVidia will cancel the whole 7 series cuz the 8 series is better and about the same price as the 7 series.

Well last time I checked, a 7900GS/KO/GTO/GT/GX2 (I think) is a hell of a lot better than a 8500GT/8600GS :?

Erm... did i mention anything about a 7900, i only mentioned the 7600GT and by "8 series is better and about the same price as the 7 series" i meant that they are better than their respective numbers (example: 8600GT is not actually a 7600GT with DX10 it's more of a 7900 with DX10 and the 8800GTX is in no way a 7800GTX).

You mentioned something about the 7 series though ("8 series is better and about the same price as the 7 series") and a 7900GS is in the 7 series.

And price wise, where I am, (As you said a 8600GT is more like a 7900 with DX10) a 7900 would be less so whats the point of getting a 86? Cause the 85 through 88 cards don't even perform like it was hyped up to with DX10.

So a better suggestion would be to wait for the newer 8 series cards. They will probably perform better with DX10.

Yeah but those newer 8 or 9 series vid cards will be very expensive.

And for the question about why buy a 86, well just simply cuz it can run DX10 and even though it might not do well in it you can still have it, and in my book better with than without.

Multiple PIC-E slots allow you to use multiple graphics cards in tandem. ATI calls this technology Crossfire and nVidia calls it SLI. It allows you to use two or multiple graphics cards as one.

There's only one type of PCIE-E slot. The short ones that you've seen are just normal PCI slots. PCI-E slots are the longer ones and are usually blue. Some motherboards have the secondary slot colored black.

Oh, so that's what he meant. Sorry, I've hardly ever seen anything use the PCI-E 1x slots, so I completely forgot about them.

Anyways, the link PSZeTa posted should have all the answers you need, Pauld.

so is it possible to run SLI on 1 pci-ex16, and 1 pci-ex1 slot? can any pci-e video card work with a pci-e x1 slot?

I don't think they make graphics cards for PCI-E 1x slots. Read the wikipedia article, it should tell of what PCI-E 1x slots are used for.

IF you want, I can find you an SLi mobo. The easiest thing to remember... if it doesn't say SLi or have an SLi logo, it probable wont SLi.

Offtopic: I have no idea why but my computer is really bright tonight....

The DX10 cards available in the market are kinda weak.
I've just seen a video/trailer of Crysis on a 8800Ultra at 2560x 1920, or some resolution like that,
and i could notice the low fps etc. :|

Is there any news of a 8900 or better gpx card yet?
