Lag? GFX help.

Post by Toshiro »

Scenario: I have Most Wanted on medium (two notches), with max detail, and it lags like crazy. My friend's specs aren't so different, but he has everything on max with 1024x860. I have it on 800x600.
------------------------------
My Specs:
2.4 MHz
GeForce 6600 256MB
1.5 GB RAM
-------------------------------
My Friend's Specs
3.5 MHz
GeForce 6600GT 256MB
1024 RAM
-------------------------------
Maybe it's because I have eMule PLUS, AIM, and a trainer running in the background?

Help me out here. XD

Your friend has a lot better cpu and gfx-card...
But have you tried different drivers for your gfx-card?
Get the latest forceware drivers from http://www.guru3d.com

Alright. Turned out the trainer was lagging it down...and i brought the detail down a few notches.

BTW, CPU frequency is measured in GHz these days ... Haven't used MHz since the 90s ;)

Also, you may want to specify what kind of processors they are (i.e. AMD Athlon64, Pentium 4, Celeron, etc.) ...

The 6600GT is MUCH faster than the 6600 as well ...

I don't know why you would run a P2P program, an IM program and a trainer in the background and then post a thread asking why your fps suck.
