Undercover All Tier Car Test!

Postby VG_Speed » 26 Nov 2008, 16:37

Hi!

I decided to do a big test among most Undercover cars to have at least an idea about what cars to choose from each Tier.

Conditions of the Test:
a) Track choosen was Peak Ridge Loop. It has good straights, slow-medium corners, fast corners and dirt;
b) The Cars were upgraded with Max Performance Parts (Pro in Tiers 4, 3 & 2; Ultimate in Tier 1);
c) The Setup was left unchanged, in other words, all Setup Options 0 (Default Settings);
d) NOS was not used;
e) Didnt test the Old American Muscle Cars;
f) Did only 3 Laps with each car, choosing the fastest time.

Limitations of the Test:
Because Setups were left unchanged and NOS was not used, the results may not be accurate, although I believe they are quite close to what a more extensive testing would show.
Another thing is that on some occasions, maybe 2-3 times, the cars made better laptimes then their total race time. I will try to explain... That had to do with some cars being slower on 1st Lap because of slower start, but after having a good speed they could hold it better then the other. For example: the Gallardo made the 3rd Fastest Tier 2 Lap, but only the 6th Total Time (times were pretty close in this class).

About the times, there are a few surprises I think... Check them out:

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - 46.38s - Tier 1
Ford GT - 48.59s - Tier 1
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 - 48.81s - Tier 1
McLaren F1 - 49.48s - Tier 1
Pagani Zonda F - 50.21s - Tier 1
Audi R8 - 51.51s - Tier 1
Porsche 911 GT2 - 52.31s - Tier 2
Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 - 52.78s - Tier 1
Porsche 911 GT3 RS - 53.56s - Tier 2
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 - 53.81s - Tier 2
Porsche Carrera GT - 54.04s - Tier 1
Mercedes CLS 63 AMG - 54.08s - Tier 2
Shelby GT500KR - 54.26s - Tier 2
Porsche 911 Turbo - 54.39s - Tier 2
Dodge Viper SRT10 - 54.51s - Tier 2
Nissan GT-R R35 - 54.53s - Tier 1
BMW M3 E92 - 55.39s - Tier 2
Aston Martin DB9 - 56.58s - Tier 2
Audi RS4 - 56.64s - Tier 2
Mercedes SLR McLaren - 57.31s - Tier 2
Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 - 59.21s - Tier 3
Ford Focus ST - 59.28s - Tier 4
VW Scirocco - 59.56s - Tier 4
Nissan 370Z - 59.98s - Tier 3
BMW M6 - 1m 00.28s - Tier 2
Mazda Mazda3 MPS - 1m 00.56s - Tier 4
Audi TT - 1m 00.94s - Tier 3
Lotus Elise - 1m 00.96s - Tier 4
Lexus ISF - 1m 01.53s - Tier 2
Audi S5 - 1m 01.94s - Tier 2
Renault Mégane - 1m 01.96s - Tier 3
BMW M3 E46 - 1m 02.03s - Tier 2
Cadillac CTS-V - 1m 03.58s - Tier 4
Dodge Charger SRT8 - 1m 03.73s - Tier 3
Ford Escort Cosworth RS - 1m 04.93s - Tier 4
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X - 1m 05.06s - Tier 3
Ford Mustang GT - 1m 05.29s - Tier 3
Toyota Supra - 1m 05.48s - Tier 3
Chevrolet Camaro Concept - 1m 05.88s - Tier 3
Nissan 240sx - 1m 06.76s - Tier 4
Nissan Silvia S15 - 1m 08.03s - Tier 4
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX - 1m 08.29s - Tier 3
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray - 1m 09.18s - Tier 3
Mazda RX-8 - 1m 09.71s - Tier 4
Pontiac Solstice GXP - 1m 10.56s - Tier 4
Mazda RX-7 - 1m 11.54s - Tier 3
VW R32 - 1m 12.76s - Tier 4

There are a lot of Surprises, as the Ford Focus, but also disappointments like Mazda! :S Some continue like last year, as Mitsubishi which still sucks! :|
Anyway, Tier 4 seems to be owned by Americans and Europeans. Tier 3 is domain to Japonese cars, but its important to say that they barely beated Tier 4. Tier 2 seems to be European, with Americans close. Tier 1, well, I guess this will be the year of American Cars, with Europeans close by, since Z06 seems to be on a classe of its own.

Cya!

Zo6 FTW!! lol Great job on this I did something similar to this once for my own thing with underground 2 stock cars. Skyline GTR R34 was the fastest of course but not by much over the RX-8 I believe. I did a small track with some good straights and about 3 laps was pretty intresting to see what cars actaully were faster stock. But ya this takes time to do this I hope you didnt do this in one day like I did on mine lol :lol: :D

underground 2, after modifying... celica is definitely the best... it doesn't have an awesome max speed, but it WILL reach its max speed... unlike the skyline which won't even come close...

with celica, i can easily reach 345km/h ish max speed on most races, while skyline struggles to keep it above 300... BUT i DID manage a max speed of 390+ with double nos on a no traffic highway track... but it was REALLY hard and too easy to crash with so only lasted 2-3 secs...

but what am i talking about?!? lol.. currently i'm driving an R8 and i don't have money to get the others... might try them out on quickrace tho =b

Note the Zonda corners better, and if geared down for the tighter tracks, is better than the Z06. I haven't tested the Ford GT yet. The basic difference is the Zonda appears to have more downforce than the Z06 (this isn't adjustable). The Zonda corners faster and is less prone to go airborne than the Z06. The Z06 has higher speed on the straights, and is better on the more open tracks.

underground 2 - celica
It's the Corolla that is the fastest grip car in Underground 2.

Hi!

As far as I know, that car is not available in PC Version of the game, which is my platform of play.

Hi!

The best Circuit car in Underground 2, by far, was the Toyota Corolla AE86.

Actually it is.. Just not available in Career Mode. I've read it off somewhere in this forum. The CCX is available in Quick Race. :)

So yet again the Z06 is the fastest, like in carbon.

but you can't modify it in any way shape or form... SO it's not a fair comparaison for CCX being the only stock car *as well as the Z4M and the others*

I'm on a PC and I don't see a CCX as an option in the quick race "my cars" shop (and I've completed the game 100%).

Woops! My bad.. I don't have the game, and so I can't tell. My knowledge is based on the discussions made in the forum. I think the information about the CCX was kinda vague.

Maybe it's only limited to the Xbox and PS3 users. The CE contents are only for the PS3, as far as I know.

The CCX is available in the PC version of the game. Its just not available in the Career or the My cars section. But if you go to event map from quick race, and choose European cars, you will surely find the CCX and other special cars. ;)

Hi guys!

Just a little update... There is a acceleration bug with Digital Controllers on the PC version (Keyboard or Digital Gamepads). Basically, the car accelerates in an insane way.

So, if you guys are using a Digital Controller on the PC Version, this test of mine has many mistakes. Cars with a lot of Handling will be considerably better on those cases, especially cars like Zonda, McLaren F1, LP640, Gallardo, Elise...

Hi!

If you are asking if Acceleration is more important then pure Top Speed, what I can tell you is that on several circuits that is true. Anyway, there are a lot of other factors, like Handling vs Power or the way "NOS Power Turning" affects the outcome in what Race Times are concerned.

True enough, but if quick race is the only place where you can use the CCX since it's not available for the career, it will have no impact on this list. It may be faster all souped up, but if you can't drive it in the career, then it's maybe only the fastest car in quick race. My belief was the OP tested which car would be best choice for use in game from each tier. ie:

Great work VG_speed. This sounds like it might be fun to do, just for the experience of driving every car. Did you run these races with or without traffic?

Hi!

Sorry to just answer today, but only now saw the question...

I did the Testing in Quick Race without Traffic. At the time my level in this game was still not very good, so the times are not very fast.

Thanks for your kind words! :)

CCX
On the PC a savegame editor can be used to get the CCX into the career garage. Once there it can be upgraded with ulimate parts, making it faster for quick race and faster still in career because of the driver skills performance boosts. It's like having the power of the Z06 with the cornering of the Zonda. I made a video with the CCX with the new patch to show the stuttering when using fraps to capture is gone now (still have to do the affinity trick though).

Note, the sound is a bit out of sync:

Glad to see that they got the cars really badly wrong then. As a final parting gift from EA Blackbox bastards before the hellfire engulfs them.

Lets see if Slightly Mad Studios gets the performance stats right. Seeing as Tiers is just crap...
