Exception Caught Access Violation Error

Post by baxter »

Hello All,

I have downloaded some pursuit cars and I added them to the proper directory with a folder name of four characters and no more, usually what the readme file said to name the folder, and I inserted the car.viv file into that folder. When I run the game the car will show up in the menu, I can select it and then click on race, the progress bar goes to about the half way point then the NFS4 exits to my desktop and I get the following error;

Exception Caught!
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION: read attempted @0x97DEF798

And from there it goes on and on with codes, but what I dont understand is that some cars work and some dont. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks,

First of all, there's a limit of about 50 cars in the game. Check how many you have. One of the downloaded cars might be bad, I guess. Try redownloading.

You can modify (and maybe check, I forgot) serial numbers of cars using the NFS4 serial number editor on the utils page.
