I'm confused by your post. Why do you have different Carbon folders on your PC? The patch should be put into the Carbon install folder in C:\Program Files\ and run from there. You should also follow Andre's suggestion to use a checksum fixer on your savegames.

There's too many things that could have happened, especially since what you did last time was simply adding a car. If you have a backup savegame, go back to that. Otherwise, start over and remember to make regular backups.

Try defragmenting your hard drive, running Scandisk, and Disk Cleanup before installing. Sounds like the installer EA uses is having issues. You could also try copying the files from the disk to a folder on the Desktop and installing from there.

The car codes changed in the patch. So if you had the cars working before the patch, they won't work after patching without some further editing. That's basically what happened in your case. I don't know what you did with the whole backing up and copying over, etc. Best option is to try a reinstall....

The carcodes were changed with the patch. So you'll have to either use a savegame that's patched for the patch or edit it yourself. I would suggest using SAAM007's patch located in the Editing forum.
